We have adrs for Spoodles but after reading about 50s Prime Time Fried Chicken I'm having second thoughts. Which one would you pick and why?

Im kind of in the same boat as you. We went to eat at spoodles but it was full and too long of a wait for my tastes and got right in at 50's PTC. Ive ate there a few times and although I hear a lot of people complain about it, as long as you like mom's style of home cooking its the place to be. Like I said, I cant tell you about spoodles but I would be interested in hearing what others have to say about it because its on my list of possible places to eat this fall. I have a hard time changing after I find something I really like (I dont think Ive had anything but the chicken) so even with glowing reviews of spoodles I think I would still be debating. Good luck in deciding.

Hi you all.

Ok, I have never eaten at spoodles. But, I have heard good reviews about it. So, I would pick spoodles before. I would ever go back to 50's prime time. I had eaten there in 2005, and to be totally honest. The fried chicken, and peanut butter, and jelly shake was great. I however. Did not get rave reviews from the others in my party. One had the pot pie, they said yucky. The other had the potroast. They said it was just ok. But, since I loved it. I decided to try it again in 2006. Well, let me just say. I am an over patient person. But, we had adr's for dinner, at 5:00p.m. We showed up at 4:45. The place was a madhouse, and we were not seated until 6:45. Ok, so, I am a little tired of waiting. But, I still had an optimistic outlook for dinner. Well, to be honest, the onion rings were overloaded with grease, and the chicken. Was just ok, honestly tasted like it had been under the heatlamp for a good 30 minutes. I chose greenbeans, and those were tasty as usual, but for some odd reason the peanut butter and jelly shake tasted overly sweeter than i remember. Good thing I chose to have the shake as dessert. It was almost to sweet to drink. I drank a forth of it, the last time i drank the whole thing, and shared some. I asked our cousin for water. Did not mention the shake was very sweet. I am a chef, so I try to be as pleasant as I can be. I am not a complainer. I asked very nicely, and politely for water. But, for some reason my party never recieved the water. Now, I say all of this to let you know of my experience. Hey, maybe it was an off day. But, I will never go back. So, I say if you, really want to try it. Try it!! Maybe you will have a great experience, as I did in 2005!! Whatever you choose, have a great trip!!

We love the 50's and eat there every time we go. It is such good food and so much fun. I love the desert menu that is on a viewmaster. Awesome fried chicken and real mashed potatoes.

been to both- we prefer spoodles hands down. Better atmosphere, way better food. Can get food at 50's anywhere. We dine at spoodles almost everytime we go to WDW. They have an awesome spring salad.

We love Spoodles and went there the first time last year. If we do free dining this year, we will definitely go back. We went to 50s Prime Time when my daughter was 6. She cried for half the meal because she thought everyone was being mean to her and telling her to eat all her food. She just didn't get the atmosphere thing, but she refuses to go back there. I thought the food was just fine and the desserts were great, but very filling.

My Soon to be DW and i ate there last april and love the 50 prime. Great food and loved the desert:banana: :thumbsup2

It appears to be divided. Can you tell me what you had at Spoodles and 50s PT that was really good? Thanks!

At 50's, the pot roast is amazing.... My husband says the meat loaf is amazing. Really- it was good ole home-cookin'. The desserts were great too... Pretty much any of the desserts are great.

Wow, these are 2 totally different restaurants. LOL

The reason I'm not interested in Prime Time is that I like to relax and enjoy my meal without being assaulted with silly acting. Call me crazy, but even at a fun place like Disney, I need to be able to get away from it all when we eat. I'm being brave to have booked Whispering Canyon!! LOL That's all I'll be able to take this trip, though.

Spoodles is also mainly Mediterranean food, too.

We enjoy both, but as someone stated; they are totally opposite. Spoodles is fancier. The appetizers are delish and you can't beat the pitcher of sangria. The flatbreads are wonderful. I had the filet.

50's PT is a lot of fun, and is old fashioned "home cooked" food. The meatloaf is tasty, the baked cheese is a yummy appetizer, and you can't beat the PB&J shake. I have also eaten the fried chicken and liked it. You have to "get into the act" at 50's PT to make the most of it.

We will return to both on our next trip!

50's Prime Time for the fried chicken, it is the best! Plus we like to play along with the CM's

I think I'm going to stick with Spoodles. Maybe try 50s next trip.
Thanks everyone! :)
