browsing allears yesterday & only saw 'oak fired steak kabobs' on the menu:confused3

we really enjoyed the strip steak last trip, worried DH won't care for this.

Has anyone tried it yet?

Had it last week. The portion was huge--but the kabobs came completely undercooked. We ordered medium and told the waiter pink --not raw--in the center. They came raw and it took a while before we got someone to take them back and redo it. After everyone else was done, our kabobs came back-overcooked and tough. I'd like to say it was a bad night--but this was the second bad visit in our last two trips. Used to be my favorite restaurant, but now it is off the list.

Thanks for the quick response (even though it isn't what I wanted to hear;) ).

Despite Spoodles being one of our favs, i had the feeling the quality might be questionable...imo steak kabobs are very tricky entree to get "just right"...not much margin for error.

We ate at Spoodles 2 years ago and loved it and then we ate there 2 weeks ago with the new menu. It was still very good but the menu (esp for the entrees) is really quite limited. My mother was with us (she's a very picky eater) and had to ask for plain macaroni with marinara sauce (which they did for her) because there was nothing on the menu that she would've liked. The other adults in our group (me, DH, & my father) are much more adventurous eaters so while we were fine with the choices I'd have to say that overall I preferred the old menu. Unless the menu changes again I don't think I'll go back there.
But on the upside, the service was fantastic and the appetizers and desserts were delicious!

Agree, the service was professional & effecient; think their staff is more "seasoned". Last time I asked the server where she lived...over an 1-1/2 away! She stated the tips make it worth her while:)

it's funny how trends get started. Am I to assume everyone eats steak every night on vacation? I think the misconception here is that some menu's at WDW have been changing lately to becomre more original and true to their cuisine. Everyhone here complains that all of the menu's are becoming the same - grilled steak, grilled salmon, a creamy pasta dish... but now it seems that it's what everyone wants. Wasn't Spoodles supposed to be Tapas anyway?

Coral Reef, Le Cellier and Chef's de France are also the biggest ones commented on lately. Menu's do change and usually more often than every 180 days.

Whole steaks are something normally not found in the Mediterranean, no different than a Mexican or Chinese Restaurant.

Just my two cents, put the A1 aside for a little while and live a little.

When we go to Spoodles, we go for the tapas menu. I think the kabobs sound great!

Thanks for the heads up! I wanted the alfredo, no longer on the menu! And the steak for Dh is off. We will be changing our ADR. Thanks!

It is hard to get steak just right. We'll go back to Spoodles, just need a break from it for a while.

Amen, why order what you can easily make at home?

Still #1 in my book. But, we love to share lots of different dishes there and the drinks are the best. Sangria is the best:banana: Oh, and I can't forget the dessert sampler and top notch service. Too bad I am in NY and not FL because just talking about it makes me want to be there. See you in Nov.:goodvibes

I agree. You're on VACATION! Step away from the ordinary and treat yourself to something new!

Is the Sangria they serve there real Sangria? (wine, fruit, etc. - meaning tastes sort of sweet) or is it just Sangria Wine (bitter) like they serve at the Hoop-Dee-Doo?

We had the Sangria last October and I thought it was very light and refreshing, not at all bitter.

Hey, I'll eat nearly anything lol.

DH & DS are meat & potato sorts; they will try new things on buffets; but prefer a nice rare cut of aged beef...yum:thumbsup2 Their idea of a treat...

I'm not going to tell them otherwise, their vacation too.

Most restaurants we frequent tend to have a steak on the menu for carnivores, even the seafood places...as in surf & turf. Sure don't think it's out of the question to expect to see it offered; unless it's the dumbing down side-effect from the DP striking again.

I like sweet red wine, Sangria had too much citrus in it for me (darn uneducated palate), DH thought it was swell...drank the whole thing.:)

DH had the sangria when we were there this month - he says it was real and he really liked it

We just returned from our 2 week trip and ate at Spoodles with the new menu. We ate there in Feb with the old menu and liked it. So we decided to try the new menu. I had the kabobs. They were OK, a little too tough for me. While I didn't hate the meal, I think we will wait for another menu change before going back. My hubby also found the menu challenging and choose the wild game hen. He didn't care for his meal. In our two weeks we ate at many places--lots of old favorites. We were surprise to see the menus had changed in many places and we were only there 3 months ago (Feb. 07). We were sad to see the hot steam shrimp gone at Cape May and replaced with cold salad shrimp. The menu at Coral Reef changed and we liked the new stuff. Our meals and service at several places were just average for both. We are big on tipping extra for great service, but did find the service barely average at many places. It made the great service jump right out. We had excellent servers at Coral Reef and Narcossees (both times at each place). We had average meals and service at (Kona, LeCellier, 50sPT, CapeMay, Yacht Club, Boatwrights, GF Cafe).
