Called this week for Reservations for Mid July and was told Spoodles was "unavailble" for my entire stay. Does anyone know if it is closing or being replaced?:confused3

Yes, it will close and be replaced by a new restaurant called Kouzzina, but Disney has not announced an official closing date.

Kouzzina it owned by Cat Cora, from Iron Chef America.

It's going to be owned and operated by Disney. She will be some sort of a partner in it. I'm assuming she will have some creative control over the menu.

I read somewhere that the projected opening was sometime this fall, but that was as "specific" as the article got.

Not at all, it will be a “collaboration” between the 2 as the name of the restaurant will actually be named “Kouzzina by Cat Cora”, it states its her signature restaurant, meaning she will have total creative control as well as a huge stake in the profits, much like the many varied restaurants in the Las Vegas resorts, which is very common when using a Celebes name for the restaurant. But it does sound VERY good!

Out of curiosity, how would you know that?

Whenever a BIG name chef lends their name to a restaurant, it is their name, their reputation at risk and I can guarantee you that a celebrity chef will not sell out and just give somebody else their hard earned name to use with nothing to do in the restaurant, SHE will have total control over everything. Just google her name, there are many articles out there on her, after all she is a celebrity chef... Was Spoodles that bad to warrant closing??

OMG... just occurred to me that this would affect the sangria window, too! Please tell me the saved the sangria window!!

i doubt Spoodles was bad - but if you're Disney and you're going to bring in a celebrity chef to be an audience draw, and her specialty is Mediterranean cuisine, you're going to put her in the Mediterranean restaurant you already have rather than open a second Mediterranean restaurant.

I wonder if it will be up to her whether or not the restaurant accepts the dining plan. If Disney's got any ownership or control interest at all (and I understand it is going to be managed and operated by Disney and not an outside company like the one that manages the Wolfgang Puck restaurants at DTD, so Ms. Cora may not have complete and total control over all aspects of running the place) they WILL accept the dining plan.

I was able to book Spoodles this morning for dinner on 7/28. You might want to try again.

NO! Spoodles is my favorite restaurant anywhere! I'm very upset by the closing, as is my DH. We were looking forward to going there again during our next trip. It's a wonderful restaurant!
