My husband just accepted a new job and will have a week off in two weeks. How crazy would it be for me to take our family of four (two girls, 4 and 7) to WDW from 2/13 - 2/18? We've been there once before, in 2003, and I planned it a year in advance. Is this doable? Obviously we won't be having breakfast with the princesses again, but it's so cold here, and I've been missing Disney for a while!

Any suggestions? Am I crazy? How is WDW at that time? I'm trying to be spontaneous, but I'm an obsessive planner.... Help!

Go for it!!! The best trips are the last minute ones!!! And since you've already visited in 2003, you'll be able to find your way in the parks.....

Your kids are gonna love this!!!!

GO FOR IT!!!!!!!

WOW, I envy you. Our schedules would never allow that, now that kids are in school, and involved in activites, etc.

The week you're talking about, is before Pres. day, so that is good.

Might be hard getting a good flight, if you are flying.

I bet you might get more PSs then you think.

With the short time before the trip, I bet you could suprise your girls!! I always want it to be a suprise, but my obsessive planning always gets in the way.

GOOD LUCK :flower: :flower:

PIXIE DUST YOUR WAY :wizard: :wizard:

Starting a new job ususally means having to wait a while to take a vacation. What a great opportunity to run away for a week (and to run away to Disney World, even better). Go, go, go, go!!
Have a wonderful time and good luck with the new job!!

Ohhhh You have to go !!!!
I'm sitting here in NY state also and it is COLD and snowy!!!! :cold:
I have to wait until April. :sad2: If I could go now you bettcha I would .
Have a wonderful warm time!!! :cool1: :cool1:

I would do it in a heartbeat if you can find afford it! Kids grow up fast. Make memories! We went last year and are going this year... the kids are so excited.

Absolutely! Go for it! We just got back from WDW in December, and since we've got AP's, we decided to head back next month. We've NEVER done this before -- I'm like you, OP, I normally plan out my trips for almost a year. And, while this "spontaneous" trip won't have as much planning, I KNOW we're going to have a blast!

If you pass it up, you'll regret it! :guilty:

Mickey's waiting. . . ::MickeyMo

You should go, go, go and don't be scared off from getting PS for the princesses. You never know! Pixie dust makes a lot of wonderful things happen. What a great marker you'll have for the transition to the changes in your lives! Have a wonderful time!!!

I am blessed with a husband that works very hard (12hr shifts in the ER) for 14-15 days a month. We go every chance we can. Our girls never seem to get tired of it, in fact they are so exited about this THURSDAY (yep, again) that they have trouble sleeping. I feel that you need to enjoy every minute that you can while they want to be with you. They grow up too quickly! Wish I were there right now, we have an ice storm

spontaneous is the best kind..hubby and i are going in 10 days now and we put this together in just a few days...we are soo excited....its a great time of year to go and you will have so much fun....go and have a great time... :flower:

Definately doable. Disney is an "Easy" vacation, everything is in one place, and all of it is fun!

Don't have to worry about bad resturaunts, bad hotels, etc. You know everything has met a minium Disney standard, and while some are better or nicer than others, you know you don't have to worry about anything. Have fun and tell Mickey I'll be there to see him a month after you!

PS: Congrats to your DH on his new job!!! Hopefully he will be happy there and make huge amounts of money!!!

YOU SHOULD SOOOOOOOOOO GO!! You will never look back on your life and wish you hadn't gone. Someday all we'll have left are our memories. Go do Disney and make some new ones. Your children are only little once and what great ages to go. You'll pull it off, don't worry about the planning, it's Disney one thing they know for sure is how to make your life EASY!!!

GO! GO! GO! My husband and I did a spontaneous trip on New Years day weekend. I literally came home New Year's eve from work and told him we HAD to get out of the cold. We had airline tickets, park passes, a hotel and rental car in 5 hours. We hopped on a plane at 7:30 New Years day. It was the most fun we've had in ages!!! I too am an obsessive planner and it was great to just "go with it"

Have a wonderful time! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Talking spontaneous, we're having an ice storm here, miserable, gloomy weather. All I had to say was let's go on Wednesday instead and we now have the room booked! Yippee, getting out of this mess!

Just Do It

Our last trip in september was planned in 1 day. My DH woke up on Monday and said Lets go to WDW. So we were there on Wednesday. It was the best time we ever had. The last hurricane blew thru when we were there, but instead of checking out we extended our stay 2 days. It Was the best.

the spontaneous trips are always the most fun.

Have a great time!

I say go :cheer2: I wouldn't think it would be busy because Spring Break doesn't start until March. Have a great time!

Thanks so much for the encouragement! We're booked! Staying at AKL from 2/13 - 2/18! And we have plane tickets (although we're all in different parts of the plane on the way down! I hope someone will switch so that I can sit next to my four year old!)

Tomorrow I'll do rental car and tickets. We went to Disney on Ice tonight which was very apropos given the circumstances -- it put us in the mood! But we haven't told the girls yet....

Thanks for all of the kind words and support!

Wee Annie,

Don't be afraid to make some PS's- if they are booked, ask to be put on the waiting list. I've always had good results doing that. A lot of people back out at the very last minute!

Even if you can't get any PS's, enjoy the laid back, unplanned approach. You might like it! Have a great trip!

We just booked our spontaneous trip to WDW today... we leave in just 3 weeks!!! I am compulsive planner too... before this I thought booking 6 months in advance was a little spontaneous (lol). I can't wait to see Mickey!!! :cool1:
