**spoilers*** Lost Season Five **spoilers**

Loved it!:thumbsup2 That was a one wild ride! I can't wait 'til next week.

Maybe Charlotte needs to find her constant. Remember when that happened to Desmond, he had the nosebleed, too.

I agree about Charlotte and the nosebleeds/constant thing. I wonder who her constant is? Remember last season she or Miles said something that Charlotte was still looking for where she was born? Is it possible she was born on the island and is looking for one or both of her parents and they could be her constant?

Right after Daniel saw that Charlotte's nose was bleeding,he ran and looked in his book of notes and then he knocked on the hatch and told Desmond to go to Oxford and see his mother. I wonder what the connection would be :confused3

The show was showing two different time lines for the characters. It was 3 years later for the Oceanic 6 and it was current time for the island people. What happens to the island people for 3 years. I realize the island was going back and forth in time but the survivors stayed the same. I wonder what that is about.

Who was the lady at the end, in the hooded cloak writing on the chalkboard? The camera zoomed in on her face like we were supposed to recognize her, but my brain is a blank.

Hi guys

Could Charlotte be going back her childhood. She said she hadn't had nosebleed since she was a child. not she can't recall her mom name?

I know I felt like we are supposed to know who that is. I don't, Is there any possibility that it could be Ben mom. maybe with all the time jumping he saved her from dying

She's from season 3, the lady in the pawnshop when Desmond goes to buy a ring for Penny. He asks her to show him the ring and then he wants to buy it, and she says something like you can't, you're going to break Penny's heart.

Was she the lady in the one store that talked to Desmond, maybe something with the wedding ring a long time ago?

Maybe she has a nose bleed because it is the effects of being on the island in two places at the same time. As a child (when the island goes back in time) and again as an adult (now).

I posted this on the none spoiler thread as well but thought some of the speculation might fit here better:

The lady talking to Ben was the same shop keeper that told Desmond he could not buy the ring for Penny during Desmonds first time travel back. She is also the very first character to explain the "rules" of time travel, like you can't change anything, and if someone dies they will die no matter what you do to change things. These are the same rules that Faraday was telling everyone as they were treking through the jungle. She is also apparently related to the Monk that runs the monistary where Desmond went for a while and eventually met Penny. In his office was a picture of her.

Hurley may be in trouble but I sort of believe that his situation is a literary trick if you will. While he is the one in the mental institution he is also the only one that is reacting to the whole situation the way you think one should react. He doesn't want to lie, he is scared of Ben, so much so that he is willing to let the police capture him to get away from him, and has no desire to go back to the island but thinks they should tell the truth and let the authorities deal with it rather than he and the other Oceanic six.

Richard wont recognize Lock for the same reason that Ethan didn't recognize Lock when he shot him. Lock will time travel prior to the plane crashng on the island before Richard knew of Lock. Even though Richard went and tested Lock as a child, he probably did not do that until after the plane crashed and Lock was identified as the potential new leader.

At this point the biggest question to be answered for me (which was not answered last night) is can the others, Ben, Richard et al control in anyway time travel? Can they do it at will or must they merely let the island throw them around in time? The answer to this would explain why Richard would not recognize Lock the next time he saw him. It would be because prior to the plane crash he had never met him and his trip back to visit a young Lock was only thought of after the others met him. Thinking about this as I write it that has to be the case because Richard brought Lock's future posessions back in time with him to ask the young Lock which were his.

Finally the big reveal for me last night was how much knowledge Faraday has of the whole thing. Between his appearance at the construction of the Swan station to his little book that has all the answers, its apparent he knows a lot more than everybody else.

I think they've implied that this is not the first time the island was moved. I wonder if it happened like this the other times. Ben et.al seems to know what they are doing, getting the O6 back on it.

I also wonder if Ben didn't believe they would be able to leave when he allowed them the helicopter. I think he was exiled by Jacob when he moved the island, but since the O6 got off, he has to get them back. Will that allow him to go back also? If the O6 was still there, Ben would be off for good.

See, more questions! LOL

I'm curious to see why the time travel works the way it does.....the Survivors don't move, but the island and the others move together. That's why Richard told Locke that after the next "time shift" Richard wouldn't recognize Locke and for Locke to show him the compass. So I guess that means that the Others are "part" of the island since they move through time with it.

And I agree that the hooded lady in the church that Ben goes to see at the end is very probably Daniel's mother. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Desmond goes to Oxford to find Daniel's mother and realizes that she's the same woman who told him not to buy the engagement ring for Penny?

But who is that Jill in the butcher shop who agreed to hold Locke's body? She's got to be related to somebody in some way.

Kind of funny that Neal guy last night. The first time we saw him was in the deleted scenes on the season 4 dvd. Then he pops up last night, only to be killed. Sort of like the "red shirts" in the old Star Trek - whenever Kirk, Spock, et al would beam down to a planet, there would always be 1 or 2 crewmen in red shirts who always ended up being the first one killed.;)

I don't think so. As Daniel explained it to Desmond last season(according to lostpedia). A constant is someone or something that exists in both periods of time. So, it would have to be someone that is alive already.

"A being that undergoes time-transported consciousness, according to Daniel's explanation to Desmond, must identify a constant, something existing in both periods of time travel that can serve as an anchor for the being's consciousness; failure to find a constant results in instability of consciousness, and the resulting stress can lead to brain aneurysm and eventual death."

The hooded lady/lady in the shop chatacter-name is "Miss Hawking"*. She is played by the actress Fionnula Flanagan, who's also well-known for playing three different characters in three different Star Trek series.

**-I don't parse every little thing about this show & have barely watched any complete episodes, but has anyone else noticed the names the show uses for its characters? "Faraday", "Hawking"(2 famously brainy scientists, the first in electromagnetism/chemistry & the second in physics), "Locke"(English philosopher/scientist/doctor who pioneered the modern ideas of 'self' and social contracts)

agnes!

She is currently on the Showtime series Brotherhood as Michael and Tommy Caffey's mother.

That has been a recurring topic of discussion since the first season. There are numerous of other references to to famous philosophers, scientists, et al.
