**spoilers*** Lost Season Five **spoilers**

Ben's Dad said to Kate that Ben stole his keys - after being asked by Sawyer if he had them. Great exchange there - Ben's Dad said that "Le Fleur doesn't ask a question without already knowing the answer" (or something to that affect).

Yeah, but there's no proof that it was BEN who took the keys, only that Roger didn't have his keys. Yes, it could have been Ben who took the keys and used them to let Sayid out of the cell. Or someone else could have talked Ben into taking the keys to give to them to let Sayid out. Or someone else entirely could have taken Roger's keys. Roger and Sawyer have absolutely no proof that it was young Ben who took the keys. (Other than Sawyer knowing the evil person Ben grows up to be.)

Even though we haven't seen Frank and Sun (along with Christian) for a couple of weeks - we can't forget that the Dharma Induction Center looked abandoned - as if "the Others led by Ben" never adopted it as their compound... to me - this was a tiny clue that events can be made in the past that alter the future.

remember it has been 3 years since the Losties left the island to Sun and Frank meeting Christian at the old Dharma camp. The dock was also the sub dock so I'd imagine it would have been damaged in that explosion.

It DID look abandoned but there was the fight there with Keamey and the freighter team which included explosions/fire and it has been 3 years since the others left for the temple.

I need to go back and re-watch this episode, but didn't Ben's bullet wound move? Sayid shot him in the left chest, and yet when Sawyer and Kate are carrying Ben thru the jungle to Richard, it sure looked to me like Ben's wound was now on his right chest? (At least that's where all the blood seemed to be.) Could they have made a mistake in filming?

I noticed that too. It looked like when he first got shot it was to his left side and when Jin turned him over it was on his right. :confused3

I think Roger suspects Ben took his keys because he already caught Ben helping Sayid by bringing him food and he put 2 and 2 together.

Right - but if Ben and the Others had used the building (which we saw that they did) - why would they keep the Dharma pictures on the wall? They would have "cleansed" everything referring to Dharma - especially in a room they would use for a game room.

shades of Young Frankenstein :rotfl2:

Did anyone else watch the "Totally Lost" video from TV Guide?

They were suggesting that there's more than one Smokey Monster and each one has a different 'job'. I found that quite fascinating.

Also they talked with "Cassidy" and she seemed to suggest that she will play a big part next year since she is one of two people who know the truth about the island and the survivors.

They also spoke with "Claire" and she mentioned coming back but not just in a nonchalant way, like "oh hi, I'm back" but she said she wasn't sure if she'd be a ghost or what.

"Dead is Dead"

In order to atone for the awful sins of his past, Ben attempts to summon the Smoke Monster ready to be judged.

As he seeks redemption, we learn more about Ben's terrible actions and meet some faces from the past. His relationship with 'daughter' Alex is revealed, as is the story of how he came to steal her from Danielle.

But what is the truth behind the enmity between Ben and Charles Widmore – and did he make good on his vow to avenge Alex's death?

Can't wait for tonight!!!

Spoiler about season finale death.

From E! Online:

Melva in Orlando: My favorite Lost characters have remained Jack, Charlie, Boone and Sayid since the first ep. I'm down by two. So, can you help a sister out: Are Jack and Sayid a sure bet to live through next season? I can't imagine a Lost series finale without either of them!

Answer: No promises about a series finale, but neither Jack nor Sayid are the major Lost death happening in season five.

It's really getting narrowed down....

So....what'd you all think of last night's show?

In a way, I was disappointed. The previews: "Ben must face the smoke monster to atone for his sins." The whole scene with Smokey was kind of a let-down, and Smokey lets Ben live. With how evil he is, he's GOT to have more sins than just being responsible for Alex's death. But since they showed throughout the whole show how Ben won't kill a little kid, Alex's death had to be the worst of Ben's actions. Someone on the non-spoiler thread pointed out that letting Ben live with the knowledge that HE was responsible for Alex's death is more punishment than killing him, so I guess I can understand that. Plus, Smokey/Alex told Ben that he has to follow Locke and do whatever Locke says from now on...that's going to be tough for Ben to do. Esp. when Locke gets that smug look on his face the way he does!

More of my thoughts about last night:

WAY TO GO DESMOND!!!:thumbsup2 I'm soooo happy Ben wasn't able to kill Penny or Desmond. I guess whatever Desmond was carrying in the bag in front of him deflected the bullet? Desmond, Penny and Charlie are ok! (At least for now; you never can be too sure with this show.)

I am really getting sick of the Losties never questioning anything! Ben finds Sun and Lapidus in Alex's bedroom, and Sun says that Christian told them to wait there until Locke comes....Sun knew Locke was dead, and yet she was just waiting there. Later on, Sun's sitting on the porch and Ben comes out and asks where Locke is; Sun said that Locke had to do something and Ben asks her what. She says "I didn't ask." WAKE UP HONEY!!! You're back on that creepy island, you see a photo and some whacko (Christian) tells you that your husband is back in 1977 with your friends, a guy you thought was dead is standing there in front of you alive and well, AND YOU DON'T ASK ANY QUESTIONS??????????

Kind of nice to see the conflict between younger Ben and Widmore. When Ben brought baby Alex back to camp, I loved seeing Richard and others just watching the back-and-forth between Ben and Widmore. Wonder what Widmore did that caused them to banish him from Other-ville? Ben mentioned all his trips off the island and having a child (Penny?) with an outsider (Eloise maybe?), but I have a feeling there was more to it.

From the comment that young Widmore made to Ben at the beginning (just because we're sending you back doesn't mean you're not one of us) - looks like Ben DOES go back to Dharma-ville and he recruits Ethan to be one of the others/hostiles.

And Ben's surprise when he saw the photo of the Losties back in 1977 - I guess this means that when young Ben was healed and sent back to Dharmaville that the Losties were already gone when he got back and he doesn't remember them being there at all? Were they transported back to the present time?

YES!!! I've been saying this since I started watching -- especially this season. Why didn't anyone question Ben when he got on the plane all beat up? I was yelling that at my TV when I saw that episode. And why does Sun just sit there and act like everything that's happening around her are just normal day happenings?

I've been thinking that Sun looks to be in a bit of shock. She doesn't seem like herself.

I think it is hard to determine if Ben is lying or telling the truth when ever he says something.

Having said that, either the Losties had already left the island before Ben returned after being shot OR he lied and knew they were on the island in the 70's.

It appeared that Desmond and Penny lived BUT I immediately wondered how his arm was hurt when Desmond beat him up. I guess it could be from when Desmond tackled him but when Ben told Locke, Tell Desmond I am sorry, it just seemed to me that more happened then we saw.

When ever the Losties don't ask questions, it drives me crazy too :headache: but alot of times I think they just don't ask because the Island does what it wants and none of it makes sense anyway

Desmond was hit with the shot. If you notice when he's beating on Ben he only uses his left arm. The tell Desmond I'm sorry line was wierd. Maybe he's sorry for shooting him?

As far as the rest of the season goes from the spoilers I have seen two major things happen. The time traveling losties make it back to current time, and the incident occurs. I also caught the idea that dead is dead. Ben tells someone that and I think that is why he is so shocked that Lock is alive. His character is so complex. He cannot kill Alex as a baby when Widmore tells him to but he has no problem killing lock, or Ceasar for that matter. Just a "looking for this?" and boom, dead Ceasar. Ben not knowing certain things and looking confused was classic. I think the reason for the lack of judgement by smokie that some are complaining about, sort of makes sense. As evil as Ben has been based on our opinions I think that in the eyes of the monster those things were done to protect the island so he got a pass on all that. In otherwords we can't judge his actions based on societal norms but rather from the perspective of what the island thinks is correct in order to protect itself and it's secrets.

The island as a living, thinking being is really being brought forth this season. In past seasons it was hinted at and talked about, but this season they are actually showing examples of it acting out in a way to suggest that it does have a lot of human feelings like security, self preservation, and fear. Lock has had that sense every since he awake from the crash and could walk again. I think that even though we have not seen her this season much, Rose has the same understanding and I could see her becoming a large part of the story again because of her understanding of the island.

Ok, this makes a lot of sense. Sort of like a mother protecting her child, or shooting someone in self-defense. We only see Ben doing the evil things, not the motive behind them.
