*SPOILER*Expedition Everest - from a chicken's point of view

Thanks for the chicken perspective. I am a major coaster chicken....I don't really like coasters at all (other than BTMRR), so I am uneasy as to whether to try this one out. Having never gone backwards before...how bad is it. LOL I'm trying to get over the fear and go on this ride (and Space Mountain for the first time), but some of the ride reports have me going :earseek:

DH and I are sitting here reading all about EE on the threads...we were wondering if you are in fact...up fr the challenge?!?! :) I hope so! Go check out that new video link! It isn't THAT bad :stitch: ;)

I noticed in a picture of restrictions for riding that they mention motion sickness. My DH couldn't do Body Tours I think it was called at epcot because the film sequences changed to fast, yet he can ride Star tours and all the other coasters. Will he have a problem with this coaster? We are planning on going the first AP day and have hoop-dee-doo that night, don't want him feeling sick during dinner :teeth:

Thanx for the entertaining review.

One question - you comment about feeling "pressure on your chest/head" when the train goes backwards. Please elaborate...I have cervical problems and shouldn't ride Space Mt., Dinosaur, Star Tours etc. but, I do - usually w/o any issues.

Have you ridden The Mummy...is this as jerky/hair-pin turns?

TIA

I think EE is a lot like The Mummy at Universal (one of my favorite coasters.) Lots of theaming but very smooth with just enough thrill:)

Thanks for the info.
Another chicken here :wave2:
The first time I rode Splash- I tried to get off mid ride, thak God my DH had a hand on me, opr I would have been gone. I cried like a baby the whole time. But in the end, the drop was much worse in my mind than for real.
I made it to the limo in RnR, then took the chicken exit.
I am still debating whether I will get on EE or not. We'll see when the time comes. But I feel so much better knowing that the drop is NOT the worst part of the ride.

Yeah, I watched the video and I'm thinking maybe I will sit this one out. I'm doing Space Mountain this trip, so that is something ;)

Thanks for the review! I always check out rides before I go, because I too am a chicken. :teeth: I love Splash Mountain, and BTMRR, space mountain is a little too much for me. I will have to give this a shot next year when we go. (I can't believe I can actually say next year now!!! :Pinkbounc )

Okay - don't read this if you don't want to know what happens in the "dark" part of the ride.

For those who do please continue:
This ride is REALLY fun! When the backwards section happens (please watch one of the videos on the net) most of it is in the dark. From the internet video you can't tell what's happening....
Your thought is that you will most likely go "down" - cuz it's a roller coaster right? Well that is sort of true......it goes down a bit...then VROOM it goes really fast (backwards still) and UP a very steep incline. I wish I could gauge just how steep, but it is too dark to tell. Feels steep enough that for a split second you think you may loop. Then it levels out into the "projection room" and the rest of the ride is alot like the video you can see on the 'net.

SO MUCH FUN!!!!! A very good ride. My 10 Year daughter loved it...and she is normally not a big coaster fan. I still like RnR best...but this is a definitely a GREAT RIDE!
A MUST DO at DAK.

Any questions? PM me. I rode it twice today.

After watching the video from EE I think I might actually try it! It's not going to be open to us in February, so maybe I'll spend this trip doing BTMRR, and RNR to get myself geared up to do roller coasters. It really didn't look too intense, and I'm a mega chicken! I don't even like doing POTC in Disneyland because of the drops, but I'm trying to get over my fear.

I won't go on any major coasters, I can handle BTMRR though last time I rode it I sat in the back and it was almost a bit much for me so for those that are scared, ask to sit towards the front. A few tips for those of you trying to pysch yourself up for Space Mountain. Ask to sit in the front car (they've never refused me on this). You will be able to see the track so you'll know where you're going to swerve to next. Some people think this ruins the ride but for those of us that are chickens, it makes you feel a little less out of control if that makes any sense.

I read something on these boards that helped me with the drop on Splash. As you go over the hill, put you head down and squish your chin into your chest, it really helps lessen that horrible stomach in your throat feeling.

I have no tips for EE because we're going in a couple weeks and I think I'm too chicken to ride it. :p

yooperfan: I don't do Star Tours or Body Wars...or any other motion stimulator type rides anymore....they really make me ill. EE did not make me feel that way. I did have a very slight headache for about 10 minutes after....but that could have been from all of my screaming and laughter during the ride! The people sitting around me must have thought I lost it!!

I've never ridden anything that has gone backwards before, so I did not know what to expect. For chicken little, cluck-cluck, it is as thrilling as I dare to go! It really does go by pretty fast, so all I can really say is that the backwards part was the scariest part of the ride for me....it's dark, you do not know where you are going.....there are a couple of banked turns, a dip and then an upward climb ( I think the upward climb is where I felt the most pressure....like you are being forced back in your seat...it made my eyes water.).

I hope my fellow cluckers will report back with their reviews!!!

Thank you so much for your response to my question. We leave tomorrow morning and I was hoping for info before we left. All my bags are packed and ready to go, leaving on a jet plan....la la la
