Hi! My 180 days is tomorrow and I need help with picking one more meal. DH & I will leave the kids with my Mom for a night and go for a special romantic splurge dinner! I am having the hardest time decided. I love wine and would love to do a wine pairing; hubby would have 1 glass of wine but prefers beer.

Here are the options I've narrowed it down to:
Bistro de Paris - window seat to watch Illuminations
Narcoossee - window seat to watch Wishes
Artists Point - we are staying at the VWL and I think I'd like to eat other than our hotel and be in a park, but I understand AP is great!

So, any advise? Thanks!

I 'splurged' on Bistro de Paris once and regretted it. YUCK to the food. I would definitely cross that one off the list. Truthfully, you see the fireworks better from outside of the restaurant.

I LOVE Artist Point (great cedar plank cooked salmon) but I've also had an amazing meal at Narcoossee's (best crab cakes I've ever had!). You can't go wrong with either one in my opinion!

Narcoosee's has absolutely delicious food, and a more romantic atmosphere than a lot of the other restaurants, less children, quieter, etc. And fabulous views of the lagoon!

If it's a real special occasion, have you thought about Victoria & Alberts?

I also hear that Wolfgang Puck's restaurants are a little more hip and fun yet still have delicious food.

If you are going to splurge, go for Vicki and Al's. You want Romance, that is the place. Remember to dress up!

If you are REALY going to splurge, go for the chef's table.

My wife and I have also found the Maya Grill at CSR to be quite romantic also. It's usually quiet and has a nice view of the lake. You can sometimes see the fireworks from the MK there also.

Artist Point is a fine restaurant, but with it's Lewis and Clark decor, I've never thought of it as being a really romantic place to dine. V&A is by far the best romantic spot, but it is quite $$$$$ and you do need to dress up.
Bistro is certainly a romantic spot and I'm sure the wine is good--however, the French aren't really known for their beer, so don't know how DH would fare there.
So of your 3, that would leave Narcoossee's as the place I'd pick.

To note, the best "nice" restaurants for wine are California Grill and Jiko. Citricos also has nice wine parings option. Yachstman Steakhouse and Flying Fish entrees all have recommended wines to go along with the food.

Artist Point - GREAT choice. The Lodge and grounds are lovely for an after dark stroll....toss a penny in the bubbling spring in the lobby....walk to the overlook and wait for the the "show" at the top of the hour.....walk out to the beach and watch the boats come and go.......

I like Jiko as well...but for romantic....hummmmmm....maybe not.

Make a reservation at Blue Zoo over at the Dolphin.

I think V&As if VERY romantic and although it cost a pretty penny when my boyfriend and I went for Valentine's Day of '07 it was worth every cent. Not something we'll do again for a long time b/c we're not rolling in cash. The bill was easily over $200 (if you live in Manhattan that's not a lot for dinner, if you don't...I think it is).

I would say if you want to shell out the cash and want romance go for V&As but if not Narcoossee's and Artist Point are great!

For a true splurge romantic dinner, I recommend Victoria & Albert's. It's incredible!

Of the choices that you've narrowed it down to I can't help much. I've only eaten at Narcoosee's and I didn't consider it to be very romantic.

Out of the three, I would pick Narcoossee's. Our favorite dinner spots are California Grill & Jiko. There food and service are fantastic. They both have very good wine lists.

The food and service at Bistro are quite good, but there is no guaranty of a window seat. If that is a deal breaker, I would cross it off the list.

AP has wonderful food and a great wine list, but the decor is not terribly romantic. It is usually pretty quiet though, so if that qualifies it as "romantic", that would be a good place to go to.

Never been to Narcoosee's, so I am unable to comment.

I made reservations at the Grand Floridian for my DH and myself 2yrs ago.We had the private dining experience down at the marianna with your own private butler. They rope the area off and no one can bother you. Its you and the MK view. The food and dessert was timed perfect so that you were finished in time to snuggle up to watch the fireworks. It made you feel like the fireworks were just for you. It was so romantic. The Grand Floridian has a special place in my DH and my heart cause this is where we had our wedding reception and they were great then. They won't let you down.:thumbsup2

Yep - regular dinner for 2 at V&As is $250... wine pairings add $60 each... then there are the "indulgences" - optional extras like caviar ($150 for 1/2 oz) or Kobe beef ($80)...

it's not cheap, but it is sooo worth it :)

I've seen some good reviews for Citrico's (at GF) which is supposed to be quieter and more adult friendly. Supposedly has good wine also! We are going in April to try it out on our adult trip.

I agree with the people about the Cali Grill. DW and I went there on our 'alone' night last August. Ask for a window seat, the view is phenomenal. The food is spectacular, as is the service, and the wine list...oh my, the wine list:lovestruc . Even if you're not a big wine fan you can find something to go with your meal easily. We had a great meal, and only spent around 30-40 on the wine, as we were on the dining plan. It would have been WELL over $150 for the meal alone.

Out of the 3 you selected, I prefer Bistro. We've eaten at all of these places several times and I've never been disappointed with Bistro's food or service. We always do a wine pairing and love it. I agree with a PP here though, if you are counting on a window seat, you may be disappointed. This place is small and the number of window seats is very limited. Even with a window seat, most tables have a partially blocked view of Illuminations.

The decor at Artist Point is certainly not upscale. Food is very good though. It's always been pretty quiet here and the window tables provide a nice view which somewhat makes up for the lack of ambiance here.

Narcoosees, IMO, has the least desirable menu of all of the signatures. Nothing really special here, better fish/seafood options at other signatures or at bluezoo. And the last 2 times here, the place has been noisy and full of families which isn't all that romantic.

This is for PIGLETTO or anyone else who needs the info on the private dining at GF. I am having trouble in sending messages so I will put it here and hope she finds it. Go to MouseWeddings.com and click on GRAND FLORIDIAN PRIVATE DINNER.It gives you all the info and download the menu, plus the cost of the dinner. Also order the castle cake it feeds 2 people and its very pretty and taste great. That cost $25 and so worth it.
