i have a studio booked at the poly in the spring. I usually stay at the Epcot resorts but want to stay on the monorail this time. Don't want to stay at BLT again either. Tried the poly in sept and loved it but my husband likes the space of a 1 bedroom(2 kids 4 and 6yers old).... Never stayed at VGF. However the studio at the poly is very nice and I love the resort and it MUCH less points.Should I try the grand Floridian or stick with my poly reservation?

If you have never tried VGF, go for it.

I've stayed at both and enjoyed both. VGF will be a new experience for you and then you can stay at whichever is your bestie next visit.

While we want to try ALL of the DVC resorts we're waiting on the VGF until we can plan a shorter trip during a lower points season. It's a giant points hog. I say if you have plenty of points to blow & your dates are available then go ahead & try it. But if the points are a stretch and puts you into the hole with borrowing & if it means cutting out nights or the number of trips you can take etc. then stick to what you can afford.

1 bedroom at VGF is really no comparison to a studio. And in my opinion, it's no comparison to any of the 1b in WDW. If you can swing the points, I'd go with VGF.

For what it's worth, my kids (6 & 3) prefer the VGF pools over the lava pool and new splash area. The zero entry pool on the GF side is much bigger, less crowded. Will there still be construction at Poly? We were there in Sept. Even though the room wasn't facing the pool construction, I still didn't like walking around with those big walls all over the place. It makes the walkways that much darker at night.

If you want the same points, a studio in GFV is the same as Poly. I know you mentioned 1 bdrm, but that is going to be more no matter what resort. So you have to see if you want space over location. |Good luck

If OP is comparing studio stays, given the husband has mentioned liking the space in a1br, I would think poly would be the way to go (admittedly I haven't stayed at poly) .

But if you're comparing the VGF 1br, that's the winner hands down.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom at VGF in September. Two of our kids (7 & 11) went with us. It was heaven. We loved having our own bedroom with a king size bed. The kids slept on the pullout couch and Murphy bed. If you've got the points, I'd try it at least once.

My vote goes for VGF 1 bedroom! We stayed last September for a week and thought it was so wonderful we never want to stay in a studio again! The kids wanted to skip the parks and stay at the hotel one day which has never happened before at any other hotel we've stayed (Wilderness Lodge hotel, VWL studio, or Poly hotel). The pool was right out the back door and the poolside bar/restaurant had the best crab cake sandwich! We watched fireworks from the dock next to Nacoosee's restaurant and listened to the music piped in from their patio. We listened to the piano player in the GF lobby in the afternoon and listened to the orchestra at night. The restaurants are wonderful (even the quick service restaurant). I also didn't realize the value of the washer/dryer until we bought DVC. I didn't think I needed housekeeping daily but quickly learned I don't like to use dirty washcloths..... With a washer/dryer - problem solved! I can do a load of towels every other day! I love the covered walkways too! I can't tell you how many times we got DRENCHED at the Poly when staying there. We were there during a rainy September a few years ago and sometimes you just had to run 100 yards to your building in the pouring rain....with a double stroller....

We have tried staying at two other resorts so far besides VGF, in an effort to try them all, and both times have quickly realized that we missed VGF. If you can afford it and can get it, then do it. We have a soon to be 3 and 6 yr old and they love it as well. The older one always asks if we are going to our usual beautiful and fun hotel because she loves it so much too. Good luck!
