I have been reading these posts and learning so much from all you experienced DVC owners. My daughter owns at SSR and I just put in for 175 pts there myself , so I'm really excited.
My question is; Is it really hard to split your stays between 2 resorts? I understand the whole 11 month-7 month window. What I'm really wondering is the difficulty with making the reservations and the logistics of it.

It's do-able. Bell services at your first resort will transport your luggage to your second resort so you can avoid having to do that. You can check in at your second resort early in the a.m. and sometimes you may be lucky and find that your villa is available. Usually it is not so most doing a split stay will go over to second resort early just to complete the check-in process & then just head to the parks & later on in the day call the resort to check on whether or not their villa has become available. This is what we have always done. Also some may decide to just spend the resort switch day at the pool while waiting.

Best wishes, enjoy your DVC making great memories with your family! pixiedust:

We do it all the time and don't mind the switch at all. We usually move to a mod or value to conserve on weekend points. We've always had a rental car and moved the lugguage ourselves, but this time we'll be getting an Owners Locker and are thinking we may have bell services do it for us. I always go check in at the new resort first thing in the morning. We've been about 50/50 with the room being ready. If it's not we just head out to a park until later. Our next trip in April we'll be spending four nights at BCV, two nights at POR, and three nights at SSR, all new experiences for us! The kids love trying out new places and we've never had any hassle with the moving.

Enjoy, and Welcome Home!

Making the reservations can be tricky at the 7 month window depending on which resorts you are trying to reserve, the time of year and the type of room. I suggest making one at your home resort, then at the 7-month window trying to change some of the dates to another resort. You may be waitlisted.

We usually stay at 2 resorts each trip, but then again our trips are usually 10 days or more. Bell services handles everything very easily. Just have a small travel bag with what you will need as basics with you when you switch resorts. Your regular bags may not be delivered until later in the day. Oh by the way, by our signature line you can see that we have 6 people and several bags for Bell Services to move. It really is an easy process.

When AKV opened, I *really* wanted to check it out. But at the same time, I LOVE our BCV. And since we collect points to take LOTS of people every two years, every trip is that much more precious. So we decided to spend a couple of days at AKV and the rest at our "home".

What we did to make sure we wouldn't lose out with the booking windows is we booked our whole stay at BCV, then when the 7 month window came, we checked availability and changed our ressies to AKV for those two days. Easy as pie and MS were very helpful.

As for the actual day of the move, that couldn't have been easier. We checked out, gave out bags to Bell Services, telling them where we're transferring to. Went to the parks that day, when we came back to the BCV, we checked in, then went to Bell Services to get our bags.

Everything went to so well, we're thinking of checking out BLT in 2010 ( if we can get in ).
