How many of you have done it?

Was it a simple process?

If we take the ME from the airport to our 1st resort how do we get from that resort to the next one?

I'm asking because we are considering doing a split trip next year and just wanted to get some info

Thanks!

I've done split stays many times. Once you've made your reservations, when you arrange for DME, just make sure they've noticed that your arrival and departure are from different resorts.
For the day that you switch resorts, have bell services collect your luggage; they will transport it over to the next resort (if you have perishables, put them in a separate bag and ask them to keep them refrigerated, both before and after the luggage is moved).
When you check into the second resort, call for your bags to be brought up to your room. Unlike DME, they will not put them in your room; someone needs to be there to get them.
There's very little hassle involved in doing split stays, just the packing and unpacking. It's a great way to make one vacation feel like two individual experiences! :thumbsup2
Good luck. :goodvibes

I find split stays to be very easy.

On the morning you are going to check out of your first resort, just call Bell Services and tell them you want luggage pickup and that you need it tagged for transfer (so that they know to come to your room with the tags). They will tag your bags, including all of your groceries (you need to separate dry goods, refrigerated, frozen into separate bags and I always mark them).

You are then free to go spend the day at the parks and when you get to your new resort in the afternoon, you go to Bell Services and they will bring your items to your new room.

Disclaimer: if you have them transfer your luggage, it will not be available to you during the day. I'm not sure of the exact time they guarantee it's availability at your new resort but I know it's in the afternoon sometime.

Your other option is to take a cab, with your belongings, to your second resort in the morning when you check out of the first resort.

We use ME and most trips are a split stay for our family.
We use bell hop services to transport our luggage, bags, etc to the new hotel. We usually hang around the pool until our room is available and luggage arrives.
Really easy to do.
As PP mentioned, just ensure the ME is properly scheduled at each hotel.

WE have done split stays the last two summers. Last year, we took ME to our first resort, BWV. We then rented a car for a few days (picked it up at the Dolphin) we we were able to drive to BLT, and then to VWL. We then returned the car to the Dolphin the day before we left so we could take ME back to the airport.

This year, we had the car the whole time. But, had we now, it would have been simple. We would have gone to one of the parks and then took a bus to the new resort from there.

Great info!! We are doing a split stay at AKL then Bay Lake. Even though we have cars I may have bell services pick up our stuff to keep it out of the FL Heat!

Okay so what I think I'm going to do is spend 5 days at SSR and then on check out day from there we'll have luggage transfered to OKW. We'll leave SSR and go to a park, spend the day, and then take the OKW bus back to OKW and check in.
