Splitting the Bill

We're planning a WDW visit with a large group of people...basically 4 families. I'm worried about splitting the bill for most of our sit-down dinners or Character breakfasts, etc. We're all "credit card" people and don't want to bring a lot of cash, so how would we work this?

Do we tell the wait staff that we want the check split? It could be sooo confusing, as to who's on what check.

Any advice would be welcome!

Just tell your server when you get to the restaurant who goes on what bill. It has never been a problem with us.

Hi,Maybe you could work it out that each family pays for everyones meals one time/or more.If it is a buffet or character meal you will know the prices ahead of time and could work it out so that it is equal? If breakfast meals are less expensive that family could also buy a round of snacks. Or you could have every family keep track of what they are spending and put in their share and then divy up the tip. This may be especially helpful if alcohol is involved. Hope this helps! Joan

We always tell the server up front..who is on what bill. We have never had a problem either. Better up front..than after the checks are printed.

Here is how my we handle this when dining with our son's hockey team and their families: Each family has a number and when you place the order the server is told what number you are with and the kids can order their own food and just give their family number. The server then gives out checks to families by their number. Works very well and the servers always seem happy. Have fun!

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. It's good to know the CMs won't mind if we split the bill and just tell them ahead of time. Assigning each family a number is a wonderful idea...because I'm sure all the cousins want to sit together. We always have fights about who gets to sit next to who.

One thing to be aware of is even if there are split bills, if the total group is eight or more there will be an 18% gratuity added on all of the bills.
