Splitting Cost of Room with another DVC Member?!

I tried to search here and on Google, I couldn't find what I was looking for.

Can 2 DVC members chip in on one room reservation. ig) Bump up to a 2 or 3 bedroom villa without blowing 2 years worth of points?

I think The safest option would be to have one of you transfer points to the other and then that person make the entire reservation. If I remember right you can only transfer once per year to or from a contract. The other way may be to have one owner book the first half of the trip and the other the rest. You could ask member services to combine the reservations but I doubt they can, probably the best they could do is put a note in for the resort. There's a chance once you get to the resort that you'd have to pack up and leave your room to move to another room even if the rooms the same type/class. My understanding is that they assign rooms weeks out.

If you don't want to transfer points, you can each book part of the stay. Each has to book whole nights though, you can't combine for any single night.

Additional information (per my understanding) on the 2 options:

(1) transferring points from one member to another may be easiest. This may require that both members be on a conference call with member services to do this. And it will use up both members one transfer per year option.

(2) have each member book part of the trip (e.g. one member book the first 4 days and the other member book the last 4 days) and have member services link the 2 reservations together so that you don't have to switch rooms in the middle of the stay. This requires that the occupant names (and the order of the names) on both reservations are exactly the same. Also, will require both DVC members to do a conference call with member services for the linking.

My GF and I are going in Oct. We agreed on room accommodations and because I have a more flexible schedule she transferred half the stays points to me -- I'd given her my contract info in advance. The next day I called and made the reservations -- couldn't do it on line because the points do not show. Easy peasy.
