Splitting Bills

In 2 shorts weeks we will be in Disney We will be going with another family and eating most of our meals together, can bills be split? I just figured this would be easier than trying to figure it out at the end.

absolutely! just tell your waitperson you will need to separate tabs. not a problem! we have done this several times.

Crystal Palace wouldn't split our bills a couple Christmas's ago, neither would Cape May Cafe. Biergarten was no problem. Those are the only places we asked for split bills.

We just returned on Sunday (8-14) and had no problem
splitting the check (2 families of 4 and 5). We ate at
Ohana, Coral Reef, Liberty Tree, Rose and Crown, Whispering
Canyon, among others. They even credited both checks with
my DDE discount.

Splitting bills is a service you can expect from any restaurant server. Just be sure to reflect the added service in your gratuity.

I have never had a problem having checks split. Last December, we had a group of 21, and we must have had them split them into 15 checks.

Just a word on the DDE card: Most of the time, they will apply the discount to everyone when the check is split, but I have had that denied two or three times.

I wonder if there would be an issue splitting the cost between several people if there was more than one DDE card being used?? Say, for instance, there are 4 people in the group, 2 have DDE, would they give the discount only to those that have the cards or to everyone in the group? THat would seem to be a difficult thing to do...2 with the discount, 2 without. On the other hand, it would be nice if I could have the bill split when I go with another mom and her dd. I have the dde card and I know that other mom is going to want to pay her own way, rather than split costs at the end of the trip. Sure would be nice if they could apply the discount and then split the bill for us.

You can also just have one bill and then give them to credit cards or 2 KTTW cards and have them put 1/2 on each! We've done this every time we go with friends and have never been turned down anywhere. We've had the DDE card for years a Fl residents and they've always applied the discount to the whole check for us.

Just make sure to tell the server at the beginning of the meal that you will be needing seperate checks. It makes it easier for them to split!

Great question! We are going in December with 2 families and its good to know they will split the bills!

Be aware that if you have DDE, the rules specifically say no check splitting. We used it for DH and myself and two other couples for a long weekend last week. We were offered split checks with the discount at China, but everywhere else, we charged the meal back to the room, then they paid their share on the room bill.
