Splitting 175 points

If I wanted to buy 175 points and split them between two or 3 resorts, is my only option resale? I am guessing it probably is..but I thought I'd ask anyway!

If you are not a member yet then you could not split the points. Minimum buy in is 160 points then you can add on from there. Or as your stated you could hit the resale route and get three smaller contracts. The downside to that is you may not have enough points at any one resort to capitalize on the 11 month window.

Disney was allowing a min. buy in at AKV with 100 points over the summer. If AKV is one of the resorts you are interested in that might be an option to get started.

Even with the AKV 100 points option, 3 resorts is likely not feasible to get to 175 total. Certainly 100 points at AKV and then an add on for 75 at BLT or SSR is workable.

Thanks for your replies.

We're still trying to decide what we want to do. It is going to be a while longer before we buy as DH is going back to school in January and we're still saving for this purchase (don't want to finance if we can help it) . I just wanted to see what all our options were.

Resale may be best for us as we know we want at least one home resort to be VWL.

You can buy a small resale (50 ish points) and once you are a member add on through Disney as well.

Once you are a member Disney will do add on contracts of any point amount over 25. If you want points at sold out resorts you may have to go on a waitlist. Also, though you can add on 25 points Disney will only finance 50 point or larger purchases.

Adding on through Disney generally costs more per point and may require a waitlist. On the upside you can get the exact number of pints you want (looking for 54 - buy 54), they will automatically be added to your same use year and the contracts will be linked together.
