I want to stay 2 nights at AKL and 6 at the Poly. I don't want dining with AKL but I do with the Poly. We'll be park hopping so I'll have to buy park tix on the AKL reservation. But to get dining at the Poly I'll need to buy at least a 1day park ticket. Not that big of a deal. But it seems inconvenient to have to carry 2 keys to the world. I called disney info to find out if when I check into the Poly can they can transfer the unused park tickets from my AKL card to the Poly card and was told no. Has anyone had experience with this?

The best thing for you to do in this scenario is book a room-only at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and a package with tickets and dining at the Polynesian. You can then go to any park Guest Relations window up to 3 days in advance and request early ticket pick up for your Poly reservation.
Then, it shouldn't be a problem for the Poly front desk to add your tickets to your KTTW card.

I'm guessing the issue with what you were asking before was the fact that you intended to have a 1 day ticket on your Poly KTTW card at check-in. They can't combine separate tickets, so having your tickets from AKL added wouldn't work.
