Hi Guys

Ive been a lurker on these boards for a couple of years - getting loads of top tips for our Disneymoon last year - which has kind of given us the Disney Bug - we really loved OKW last time (10 days, 1 bed + DDP - good ressies - it totally rocked) and its spoiled us for staying offsite. Couldnt afford to go back this year but am starting to plan (I know, I know - so late!!!) our second anniversary trip to the world.

i would love to surprise my other half with a mid trip Disney cruise and as it happens there is a 3 day trip 5 days into our proposed dates. I was going to book the 2nd week at OKW as above but was pricing up the first 5 days at POP and tbh if i add in dining plan we could go for OKW studio for slightly less.

has anyone got any experience of split stays and the DDP? - our initial park ticket will cover us for our entire stay but i would like to get the free DDP for second part of the trip - do you know if disney will do this or if we would have to lay out for 2 lots of 14 day for the price of 7 tickets?

sorry for the very convoluted explanation but any help you can give would be amazing!

thanks

J

You're right about wondering about DDP and split stays. You wouldn't keep the dining from the first stay, but you can always just get a 1 day ticket for the second stay which would get you the free dining instead if getting another long pass :)

Luke is right. Each stay is a separate reservation which has to have park tickets. You would need to put your length of stay park tickets and dining onto your first reservation because you can only use them from when you check into your resort. So if you added your 14 day tickets (for example - not sure how long you are going for) to your second stay, you wouldn't be able to use them for park access until you check into your second resort.

I also need to point out that the minimum tix you can get in the UK are 5 days and they cost almost the same as the 14 day tickets. The only affordable way to do this is to book your first resort with 14 day (or whatever you need) tix and dining in the UK and book your dining and second stay with a one day base ticket through the US site. You would want to try and pay off the US ressie for budgeting purposes first if you are worried about exchange rates. Another point to note, if you go during free dining, to qualify in the US you now need 2 day base tickets per person.

The other way is to look at the cost of making one booking at OKW for the whole duration.

I know it sounds mad. But have a look at the costs (i think around £117 a night at OKW sudio)

There are plus points.

- the only packing/clothes you need for the cruise can be taken, the rest can be left in your room. (plus all the stuff you buy)
- Your DDP credits wouldn't expire when you left for cruise
- extra credits to use from the 3 days you are on the cruise (remember 2 credit for signature meals)
- no need to purchase an other park tickets to get DDP for second visit.

When we go next year we are going to stay at universal for a couple of days but our OKW booking is for the whole stay. (2B Villa)

As it was just a loads easier than repacking, unpacking, repacking etc.......

Thanks for the feedback guys - its certainly given me food for thought!!!

ill have to play with dates and locations(as suggested by my other half!! I hadnt even thought of moving a week either way so cruise fits at beginning or end.)

Thanks again for all your help.

If you are able to be flexible on how you stitch the various parts of your holiday together you should be able to find the best deal for you. Usually the answer to any questions about the best way to plan a trip is "It depends". Not much help is it?! But now that you have your options you can play around and find what suits you best. Just a small point that comes up from time to time which I dont know was mentioned on here is if you are planning a cruise and can put it at the end of your stay it may not be a bad idea. I have never done one, but I have done Disney and we are KNACKERED at the end of it. You've done it so no doubt you have an idea of how you feel by the end. At least you might come home feeling a bit rested.

OK another idea
book a 7 day cruise first and then spend the rest in OKW

a 3 day cruise is not long enough believe me

love the idea but no 7 day cruises when we want to go - and i think this time will be a taster to see if we will enjoy the whole cruise concept which may lead us to book a longer one in the future.

Thanks
