I currently have booked a 2 night stay at Polynesian and a 7 night stay at BC. I have 2 day park tickets for the poly stay and 6 day tickets for the BC stay. I can’t figure out how to get 8 day tickets with the packages. We have packages booked for both because of the cancellation policy. Is there anything that can be done? Can I add park hoppers to the 6 day tickets and not the 2 day ones? Or would that be an issue going into the parks?

Yes buying the tickets separately would probably be cheaper. Right now you're paying for the first 2 days twice.

Yes, it will be cheaper to book the rooms separately and then purchase 8-day tickets and link them to MDE. If you want to retain the package terms and conditions, ask to book the rooms as a "basic package", which is, essentially, a room-only, but with the package cancellation terms. Just know, if you purchase the tickets separately, you will have to pay in-full at the time of purchase and they are non-refundable, however they never lose value so you can use those tickets toward a future ticket purchase if you end up not going. If you leave both rooms as packages, yes, you could add the hopper to the 6-night BC package tickets and not the 2-night Poly tickets. If you buy the 8-day separately, you would have to add the hopper for all 8 days or not add the hopper at all. Hope that makes sense.

Disney front-loads the cost of tickets on the first 3 days and then reduces the per-day cost with each additional day on the ticket. By purchasing a 2-day ticket and then a 6-day ticket, you are paying that front-loaded price twice - once on the 2-day ticket and then again on the 6-day ticket. That's why an 8-day ticket will be less expensive than purchasing a 2-day + 6-day set of tickets.

Why don't you buy an 8-day ticket as a package with your first hotel stay. The ticket can be longer than the hotel stay. Then you'd get the best of both options. The ticket is refundable, but you aren't paying more for the ticket than you need to. I don't know if you can do that online, but one of the TA's should be able to take care of it.

We can’t do it online. I just checked. I would have if we could. I wonder if they’d be able to do it if we called up? We didn’t book through a travel agent

Not sure why you can't but yes, a CM can do it for you.

You can save even more by buying the 8-day tickets on UCT and linking them with one of your room-only stays on MDE. The tickets will be non-refundable but the cost of the tickets can always be applied to a stay in the future.

Buy the new tickets first and link to MDE. Only after you are sure those are linked, then you can cancel the tickets from the package. That will assure the park reservations don't get lost.
