How do you get from one resort to another with all the luggage??? Do people just use the buses?? Call a taxi? What???

DD8 is going to be dancing in the Christmas parade and we HAVE to stay at the same resort as the rest of the team but we own DVC. So, we are planning to stay there for the required time frame then switch to a DVC for the remainder of our stay. Any info???

We are doing our first split stay this year, but from the information I have gathered...you cannot bring your luggage on the park buses. You can have bell services move your luggage to your new resort, but it will likely not be available to you until after 3 pm, so bring stuff you may need. Or, yes, you can take a taxi over to your new resort with your luggage. That way you know it's there. HTH.

Thank you very much!!! It does help!!! (I couldn't imagine people bringing luggage on those buses but you never know!)

We typically do split stays and we call bell service either the night before to schedule the luggage pick up or in the morning when we are ready. When they arrive to gather luggage just tell them where the bags are going and your off. When you check in at the new hotel after 4pm just tell them at bell service your bags were transfered they will find them and bring them to your room.

We did a split stay last time and I found it easiest just to have the bell hop at our first resort hold our luggage, go to the park that morning, then go pick it up ourselves and take a taxi over to our next resort and check in. I hate waiting for my luggage and not know what time it will arrive, so for us a taxi was quick and simple.

Do you mind me asking when they are taping the parade? Were going in December and hoping to avoid that weekend! :)

I pack up the night before, and first thing the morning, I ask Bell Service to call me a cab, Bell Service comes to our room, gets our luggage down to the cab, and we go check in early to our next resort. If our room isn't ready, we just leave our luggage with Bell Service, and we are off to the parks. The resort will send you a text when your room is ready, with room #.

We're thinking of a split stay betwen AoA-2 nights and CBR-4 nights. I'm wondering about tickets~can you get a 7-day park hopper for a split stay. The CBR were using free dining so I'm not sure if this will work. Also, anyone know how much a cab would be from AoA to CBR? Their pretty close to each other. Thanks!!

This is exactly what we did on our first split stay in January. Disney made it so easy peasy for us that we decided to do another split stay on our next trip :goodvibes. If you are going to call Bell Services the day you depart Resort #1, make sure you do it before 10am so they can pick it up early...this will ensure that your luggage will be at Resort #2 between 3pm and 4pm (that is when they do the luggage transfers).

We did a split stay on our last trip this past March. We were at BLT for 2 nights and BCV for 3. Disney will take all of your bags for you and you can claim them at your new hotel and then bell services will bring them up to your room.

Depending on which resort you’re moving to, your best bet is to take one of the buses to a park from your old resort and pick up the bus to your new resort at that park. We checked out of BLT and took the monorail to Epcot and cut through WS to get to BCV.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone for the info!!!

The taping is the first weekend in Dec.

Is there a ticket issue with split stays?

Is there a ticket issue with split stays?

If you have a pkg for both stays (say like free dining) then you'd have to buy park tickets for both stays. Disney does not really recognize a split stay. To them it's just two separate reservations and each reservation must meet the requirements it was booked under. Unless you are an AP holder, a DVC member staying on points, or booked under one of the military deals, you must purchase park tickets in order to get the DDP. If you're doing a split stay you'd have to buy two seperate sets of park tickets (one for each resort stay). However, if you are doing room only for the first stay and then a pkg for the second, you can pick up your park tickets from the second stay like 2 or 3 days early and use them for your first reservation. It's only when you try to book two pkgs that you have to purchase park tickets with each. Some people don't understand that they can't book a pkg with the DDP for a week, stay in two different resorts, and then just buy one set of tickets to use for the whole stay. To them that's one stay, but to Disney that's two separate reservations and each reservation must stand on it's own and the guest must purchase all components required for each stay.

Thanks for the info. We aren't doing the DDP. We are getting our tickets through my daughter's dance team. (family and friends rate) I figured I would just get the 7 day park hopper. We're staying at the required hotel (for the team) Port Orleans Riverside for 4 nights then VWL for 3 nights. I am assuming the tickets can just carry over to wherever we stay since there's no package involved.

Yes, since you are doing room only reservations, you can just carry the tickets over to use during your second stay. Not a problem.
