Hi - I was just wondering how easy it is to trafer between hotels??

We are considering a split stay between the poly and WL and wondered dhow it works?? Do you have to take your luggage somewhere and where do you collect it from??

Ooh and one more very important question!!;) - Can you buy a refillable mug and take it with you to the next hotel?? - as we will be there 13 days in total but wouldn't want to have to buy two different mugs!!!:lmao:

thanks for any info!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We did that exact split stay last trip---Poly and WL. Yes, it's hassle free. Call bell services after you have your luggage ready to be moved, they will come to your room and pick it up to be moved to the next hotel. They did advise us not to expect it at WL until after 3:00. We went to the MK, checked into WL, got into our room, and then called down for our luggage, which was delivered shortly thereafter.

Its nice to hear they do do that. I called last night to get a room only for the night before my package begins and I was told by a CM (who sounded new) I HAD to move the luggage myself. I would have to call a cab or a towncar that they do not provide transportation of our luggage from one hotel to another.

I was going to call this morning and reconfirm cause I found that hard to believe.

Ah, another misinformed CM. Last time, the bell guy told us that there are a couple of guys who come in to work at 1:00 p.m., and their job is to transfer all the luggage from split stays, which is why it takes until 3:00 or after for luggage to move.

Some people do want to have their luggage earlier in the day and do transfer it themselves. We have done several split stays, and doing another in September...never a problem to have Disney move your luggage.

I just called again and had a good CM you she told me that it can be done and that I just have to notify the frontdesk that I want my luggage to be moved to the other resort. :goodvibes

A suggestion of mine would be to call bell service at 6:00 AM the day of your move that way you will be among the first to have your luggage picked up and transferred over to your new resort. You can actually check out of Resort #1 and leave your luggage (I leave a tip in an envelope tucked under a suitcase handle for the bell service person) and go on your merry little way. We usually go to our second resort, check in, and hit the parks. If you take your carry-on stuffs with you, you will be allowed to leave it with bell service at Resort #2 while you do your thing. Enjoy, this is fun!

dh and i did a split stay in december '06 - beach club and WL. it worked out great! we checked out of beach club in the am, left our luggage with bell services and went out to the park. later, we arrived at WL, checked in and our luggage was waiting for us at bell services. it was completely hassel-free and we would totally do a split stay again. :thumbsup2

We are also thinking of trying a split stay so we can try out a deluxe with our 2 little boys (can't justify the cost for our entire stay when we know we will be in the parks for the majority of the time).

If you take a carry-on bag to the second resort when you check in - and they hold it for you until your room is ready - would it be easy to access this bag if the room isn't ready and you want to change clothes to take advantage of the pool after the parks? Do the Disney hotels have changing rooms or something if your room is unavailable?

Thanks,
Kim

That's why we do the split, too!! We go from a value to a deluxe - the ONLY way to go!!!:cool1:

Yes, you can access your carry-on at bell service. If you need a change of clothing, and your room is not ready, you can use the restrooms since there are no changing rooms (at least none that I know of).

Oh I'm so excited to see this great info too! DH really wants to stay at Poly and I'm trying to justify the cost for 7nts there! But here's a question....the BIGGEST reason we're doing the Poly is b/c of the Monorail and having 2 todldlers (will be 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 when we go). How "bad" is it going to be going to the parks for a few days on the busses? Are there values or Mods close to AK or DHS? Maybe we could do those on the days we are at the cheaper hotel and save EPCOT and MK for the monorail hotel??

:help:

You can schedule your luggage pick up the night before as well. We did this last year so that it was some of the first to be picked up and I plan on doing the same this year.

Has anybody ever split between a resort and a dvc resort. We're splitting between por and akv and I don't know if you can transfer luggage between the two.

We stayed at ASMo last time and although we are doing Poly this time primarily for the monorail, it wasn't awful with the stroller, just a little bit harder. We are doing a split stay this time (we got so anxious for our trip, we added 3 days to the beginning of it and will be at POR before switching to the Poly). This trip we are driving so we'll just drive instead of using the bus.

The only problem with the bus was folding and unfolding the stroller so much. For a couple of days, not a huge deal.

part of the reason we are doing a split stay is to benefit from the monorail for EP and MK - and then we are going to leave HS & AK until we are at the WL.

We are considering hiring a car for that part of the stay - but we want to stay at HS to see fantasmic and don't fancy the buses at the end of the night with a stroller!! :scared1: (And we are from the UK so like to try out some off-site american restaurants/shopping which we don't get over here - so we will also make use of the car there too!):thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I have stayed at monorail resorts and I stayed at bus only resorts. I personally think that the "ease" of the monorail for toddlers is way over rated. I thought the busses were easy also. I loved the monorail resorts that I stayed in, but I would pick it for the resort itself (themeing, pools, etc) rather than the transportation. In other words, I wouldn't let the fact that a resort has all bus service factor into my decision to stay there.

We did a split stay in January between three resorts. We bought mugs in the first resort and used them in the next two. I don't look it as any differently than staying in one resort for a long stay. It is still all one trip. People have differing opinions about this I am sure.:lmao:

Honest opinion? I would most definitely do the "bus" parks while at the cheaper resort. A good value resort for AK and DHS would be Pop Century. This resort does not share busses with other resorts, nor does it make several stops at a particular resort, the way the busses do at POR and POFQ, and the All Stars. AK is about 10 - 15 minutes by bus while DHS is about 5. Take advantage of the monorail parks while at the Poly. It's sooo much easier. The Poly busses will go to other deluxe resorts for pick ups to various parks, and since we've done that I can tell you point blank to avoid it at all costs. It just adds way too much time to get to your destination.

DizzDoll...hmm, that's a tempting idea! So if we stay at Pop, they do not share a bus with ANYONE else? Hmm, we could do 2nts there and THEN move to Poly for the remainder of our week..... I think the kids would enjoy the theming at Pop, too. Hmmm, now you've got me really THINKING!

Any Mod's that are near to DHS and AK that don't have a shared bus?

THANKS again!
Melanie
