Those of you that have done split stays @ 2 different DVC resorts..how do you go about it? Do you wait check out and then head over to the other resort & check in? Or do you hang out at the 1st resort until your room is ready at the 2nd resort? Or do you just check out of 1st resort and check in at 2nd resort, but hang around DTD or somewhere until your room is ready? Could I check in 2nd resort early in the day? WHat do you normally do? We're staying at BCV (studio) the 1st 6 days and then moving to OKW (1 BDRM) for the last 4 days.

Check out is 11am so usually what we do is that me (DH) goes over to the resort to be checked into early in the morning in the hope of scooping a room that might have been vacant overnight or had real early leavers and then with pixie dust we get both rooms at the same time and then we transition between the 2 rooms

If the 2nd room is not ready and it is after 11am we put our luggage into the rental car along with perishables go over to the 2nd resort and leave luggage and perishables (for fridge/freezer storage) with the bellhop desk and then go to a park (usually a waterpark) for the balance of the day and then come back later afternoon early evening when the room is sure to be ready

We always take a sport bag or something similar for these transition days to have quick access to the clothes etc we would need for a quick waterpark trip

cheers

We moved to BCV from OKW this past July. We called bell services at OKW and they took all of our luggage and they shipped it over to BCV. We then got into our car and drove over to the BCV to check in. We weren't expecting our villa to be ready so we had intended on doing some grocery shopping for our second week and then spend some time at DTD. But to my surprise, a villa was available at about 10:00 am so we got in the room, changed into our swimwear which we kept with us in our car, and enjoyed Stormalong Bay for a while. Our luggage was delivered to our room later that evening when we returned to the villa and called for it.

How about moving within a resort? We only had enough points for a grand villa for 5 days, but we wanted to vacation for 7 days. So we are staying in a studio one day before the grand villa, and also one day after.

We have done this twice - both times in 2005. We stayed in a non-SSR studio on travel/arrival day, then spent 5 nights at SSR.

We usually wake up, get ready and check-out of the studio at around 9-10am, load our luggage in the trunk of our rental car and drive "HOME" to SSR. We've never had a problem getting our room immediately (1BR or 2BR) we then unload our luggage, go grocery shopping at Winn-Dixie and we're rested, stocked and ready for the WORLD.

Checking in and out doesn't require waiting around anywhere. We just check out and in, and if the room isn't ready, leave your bags at bell services and have them delivered to your new room. We usually go to the parks inbetween.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! I think what we may do is one of go over to OKW and check in early..see if a room is ready and if so take all our stuff there. That would be ideal, of course. I am trying to avoid doing laundry at BCV, but if the OKW room isn't ready..I'd have to have 6 days of laundry for 4 people (1 of them being a 3 yo) and that in a hot car for a few hours equals :faint:

We did this 2x on our last trip at BWV. We checked-in to a studio, and then moved to a 1-bedroom. It was sooooo easy! We did automatic check-out (where they leave your bill on your door in the morning and just charge your card for billed items), and then called a bellhop to come help with the luggage. The first time we moved, the bellhop called down to the front desk - asked to get us into a room immediately, and they gave him a room number!! So he just moved our luggage to our new room! Then I went down and officially checked in. Then, we moved from the 1-bedroom into another studio. I went down and checked in (at about 8am!), and they had our studio ready, so we just had the bellhop move our luggage again to the new room!

I think we really lucked out, being able to get into our new rooms very early on our check in morning. Hopefully you will be that lucky! :)
