Split stays and magic bands?

We'll be staying at all star music for the first half of our trip, and boardwalk for the 2nd half. Do you recommend getting 2 sets of magic bands? When I just got on the MDE page it's showing I get bands for both hotels. But I thought I'd also read you can decline the 2nd set. How do you do this? Is it recommended or should I just get the 2nd set? Thanks!

You can do it when you personalize your bands, there is a button for refusing the band. Unless you just want different color of bands, there is no reason to have two bands since they are registered on MDE and will work at both hotels. I've found it's safer when doing split stays to physically check out of resort 1 before moving to resort 2 and I always physically check into resort 2 in case I get lucky and the room is ready early.

They've finally gotten to the point where they're not forcing new one on everybody.

My advice is this: pick your favorite color...then use that single band for as long as the batteries last.

Not to sound to "Eco"...but this program has been Incredibly wasteful...like we need more Chinese plastics produced.

We now opt out immediately and have used same band since I think the second trip after they came online and I was confident they could be encoded at the hotels. Never had a problem. We'll ride those horses until they die and replace only as needed.
