I currently have booked BWV 1 br pool view 12/16-20 and was wanting to add 12/15 but no pool view available and have waitlisted for 12/15 but now noticed that AKV has opening 12/15 and 12/16. I am thinking booking AKV 12/15, 16 and changing BWV to 12/17-20. Will Disney transfer our luggage from AKV to BWV on 12/17 or do we need to take with us?

Yes. Just call Bell Services from your in room phone and tell them you would like to have your luggage transferred to BWV. They'll send someone to get it, and give you a ticket to pick it up at the next resort later that day.

Yes! It is very easy to let bell services transfer luggage for you. The transfer process usually takes about 4-5 hours. Or you could take Uber or a taxi to BWV and bring luggage with you and store it with bell services until your room is ready.
If you are planning to go to Epcot the day of transfer, it might be just as easy to Uber to BWV with your luggage and then walk through International Gateway.

Have done the resort luggage transfer so many time I would consider myself a pro at it. This past trip was the first time I had a major problem. When the bell service rep arrived to grab my bags I noticed he was using a tablet to get my room information off the inside of my door. He inventories the bags, game me my claim ticket after asking which resort they were being transferred to. I have him a tip and put the claim ticket in my pocket.

Upon arriving at my new resort, we settled in and I called down to check on the status of my bags around 3pm which has been about the time of arrival from prior experience. They informed me the bags had not arrived and I didn’t think much of it. I called back down around 5pm after the pool and I heard panic in the voice of the bell service rep. About 10 minutes later one of the hotel managers called to apologize and offered us a substantial resort credit immediately. At this point I knew they had no idea were my bags where.

I had offered them the claim ticket number multiple times, but no one wanted the number, only my name. I finally took a closer look at the claim ticket. Where my name has always been was another guest name. I then realized the original bell service rep had never asked my name, and somehow got the wrong name when he scanned the room. It took another 2 hours to get the bags, around 9pm. Wife and kids were not very happy, but watching the fireworks from our balcony seemed to make things a little better.

Lesson out of all of this, always check the name on your claim ticket and don’t trust their new scanning system.

Why did they not scan your magic band? That makes more sense then the door

We have done many split stays and never had issues with luggage transfers - just plan on not getting your luggage until late in the day. We always make sure that on the change day we always have something planned that doesn't need access to our things/food. I think they have a standard time in the afternoon that they do resort to resort transfers

We usually bring our luggage to bell services in the morning on our way out. The count it and give us a claim ticket. We go about our day and call for it when we get to the next hotel at the end of our day.

We have done a few split stays and Disney couldn't make it easier.
Make sure you have what you will need for that day. Bell services will take your luggage and it will magically appear at your new resort later that day.
We had no problems each time.

We do splits very often, but don't want to wait for our luggage. Very easy; we take Uber or Taxi. Just to make sure, we go to the desk and physically check out and ask for a printout of any unused dining credits to avoid any snags.

Disney will transfer your luggage as I'm sure others have stated on here. What we do (and we've done split stays many times this way), is pack up the morning of the switch, order an UBER or LYFT car and transfer our luggage to the new resort ourselves. Drop our luggage with concierge, hop onto Disney transportation and go to whatever park we want for the day. When we are done for the day, one of two things occurs, sometimes our luggage was in our room waiting, or we have to pick it up and take it to our room that is now ready to check into. It has worked perfectly for us. No worries of lost or late luggage. We have also planned our day to be at the part that is closest to the new resort we are switching to, sometimes within walking distance... ie. Epcot/ Beach Club or MK/BLT, to cut down on travel time.
