Split Stay

Hi All!

I'm taking a trip in fall 2014 with a large group, staying on DVC points for three nights. I'd like to add on a solo trip to this one.

My two options are 2 days before and 5 after, or 7 nights after.

I will be paying OOP because I want to check out a few different resorts. Right now I'm thinking 2 days at a Deluxe (most likely Poly) and 5 days at a mod (CSR or POR).

Most posts I've found say, don't do a split stay with 2 resorts if you are staying less than 10 or 11 days...these also tend to be from non-solo folk. (I understand it's more time consuming to move a group than just me.)

So the actual question, what is the shortest trip you would do with split stay and how many nights at each, as a solo (or just adults)?

P.S. I know I'll be there 10 days...but doing three resorts during that time.

Hi, I prefer split stay trips because it's fun to experience a variety of themed resorts.

The shortest stay I would do at any one resort is probably three nights, because shorter than that, it seems like a bother to have to pack up and move again so soon after arriving.

On my recent trip this month, I did a split of 5/3/4 and it worked well.

If the only way to afford a deluxe is to do a two-night stay, it may be worth it, but in that event, my suggestion is for your one full day there, spend that whole day enjoying that resort's pool area and other amenities. You can enjoy the parks from a less expensive resort.

Thanks for the input! I've got some time to save, so maybe I'll do a 3/4/3 split.

Most of our trips are 3-4 days anyway; so I think it should work!

We just did a 4 nt split stay 2/2. Both moderate resorts.

We had a car which was a great benefit.

Swtching resorts has never been a problem for us but we're adults.
