Split stay, yes or no

With all of DS medical stuff, we don't do split stays. Also, DH packs heavy, and wouldn't want to move him.:rotfl:
Probably would if it were just DD and me. We pack happy.

I have tried the split stay also.

If it is just me and the hubby - no problem. However, I would just rather plan a future trip to try out another hotel.

If I have to pack up the kids - it's not going to happen. It was just a pain and took at least half the day. (We did not have a car.)

I did my first split stay last year (2 @ POP/2 @ YC) for thanksgiving and while I love both resorts personally I wouldn't do a split stay again. Too much trouble to move everyone in the party and while wdw resorts will move your stuff we moved our own since we had a car to move as well.

I am 100% not a fan of split stays. I rather get comfortable in my room and resort than have to move. Some guests like it, but it is just not for me. I rather focus on having fun that packing and unpacking.

That's pretty much our view on it. But we have done it several times. Usually its just the day we arrive and stay off-property which you may or may-not consider a split stay.

Our problem with the split stay is
  1. You go through the pack/un-pack cycle twice. And no, living out of a suitcase isn't an option. Things must be put away, hung up, pressed... :laundy:
  2. You're "homeless" on the day you move. You have to be out of your first hotel long before you can actually get into your room at the second hotel. Makes afternoon naps a problem. :ssst:

Now if we could just :teleport:

I have booked POFQ for ten days for Disapalooza. Originally for my December trip I was going to stay at the Dolphin. But since it doesn't count for the party, I decided on POFQ. It is just finishing a rehab, so it will still be sparklely new when I get there in December. And I have always loved this resort.

Of course, I am never happy just letting things be. Especially when I have almost six months to make changes to my plans.

So what do you think about making it a split stay? Opinions please.

Kim

You will be in the happiest place on earth so you will have a good time. DH and I will be staying at POFQ also. Plus hearing about the refurb we are excited!

How many more days???

I don't go to Disney for the hotels. It would be a bother to have to pack up and move. It would cut into my park time.

Week, after I said I wouldn't really want a split stay, looks like we are doing one in 12 days  dh got a new job and is taking a week off before he starts so we are squeezing in a quick trip. Unfortunately the dvc room optiions are limited and there isn't a dvc studio open in the 27th anywhere, so we are doing all stars our first night. We drive from NC so we never do a park that night anyway, even when we stay at Blt, so it shouldn't be too bad I hope! I'll pack a bag of clothes just for that night. Woo hoo - less than 2 weeks, guess I'd better start packing!!! Oh, and the 27th is my birthday too - never thought i would get dh to Disney on my birthday!

only time we have done split stays is if we added days and room was not available. prefer to get cozy in room and not have to waste time moving.

My wife and I did POP and AKL in December of 2008, and it was a seamless transition. It was great being able to get at least a few nights at a deluxe resort and not go broke. We just brought down our luggage at POP in the morning of the switch and went to the park, when we got back to AKL in the afternoon our bags were already in the room.
