Over the last 18 years, we've stayed multiple places, the last being the GF. We've stayed at the Poly 4 times, which I consider our home away from home. I want to go back to the Poly, but my wife and daughter want to stay at the Contemporary. We're only planning to stay a total of 4 nights. Would 2 nights at each be worth all of the hassle of changing resorts, for such a short stay?

I think the only time I would split that short of a stay would be to do one part monorail one part epcot resort. Then I can walk and plan out 3 of 4 parks. Splitting on a monorail resorts, not sure its worth the time or hassle.

I LOVE split stays. That said, I only do split stays in a way that works for us.

My minimum for a split stay is three nights per resort. Any less and you simply don't get enough time to truly enjoy the experience of each plus you are too unsettled, IMO. Plus, both resorts that you are considering are in the MK area so no new resort area advantage is gained with this move. So, no, I wouldn't split the stay. I would choose either the CR or the Poly and stay there the four days.

I had the same decision to make for Jan and decided to forgo the Poly this time around and stay at the CR for the four days.

However,
The real question for you is: "Do we want this split stay?" For some people it is worth it to move even after only one day.

OR perhaps you could add two days for the trip to make it worthwhile? :-)

We did a split 4 night trip, Beach Club Villas and Poly in October for Food and Wine. Last December we did a 4 night split, Animal Kingdom Villas and Grand Floridian Villas. Both trips were GREAT and we would absolutely do it again.:cheer2: Was just DH and I so it was easy. Good luck !:goodvibes

I am not a fan of split stays, so take my feedback with that in mind. I would not split for this short of a trip. What I woudl do is stay at the CR this time, and book a bounce back at the Poly. Honestly, it is only 4 nights and you have stayed at the Poly 4 times, so I would acquiesce gracefully for the "girls".

My DH has loved the CR since his first stay over 40 years ago. He took me when we first started dating and insisted we take the kids there when they were little. I know that as grand parents we are going to have to stay there one more time for him, even though my DD and her family have no interest at all in staying there. It is all about compromise I think, and 4 days is a blink when it comes to a WDW vacation! LOL!

I've done many split stays but usually they are a week. I think you should give the Poly a break and just go all in with the Contemporary! :goodvibes It is really an awesome resort, I never thought I would love it but I did! It will feel like a totally different vacation, and that walking path to MK is soooo great! :thumbsup2 Your wife and daughter will be happy, and that makes you a great Dad! ::yes::

We've done a few split stays, but I would not do a split stay when your trip is only four days long. I would stay at The Contemporary.

I love splits, but for only 4 nights I don't think I'd do it. Since it's only 4 nights I'd go with Contemporary.

Nope, not for us....though we do do a short split stay...arrival day after a 18 hour drive, we opt to stay one night at a value....just to unwind, relax and shower and sleep from the drive....next morning we're up and moving to a deluxe for the week....we pack one small bag for the both of us...change of clothes, swim suits and some toiletries for the one night...main stuff stays in car.....

We do this instead of blowing 100+ bucks on a motel on way down, we make Florida Welcome Center, around midnight and nap for a few hours ( night time security ) then finish drive and do the value....

It wouldn't work for me. But, I don't do a split stay unless one resort is at least a week long stay.
I also agree that if you were going from a monorail resort to an Epcot one, then MAYBE. But, since you're kind of in limbo on moving day, that still would be too short to make me happy.
I'd say choose one place then do a different one next trip!

Yeah do it..... its just a matter of packing and disney move you...you will probably pack light too for 4 days!

I'm not a fan of split stays either. I like to settle in at one resort for a trip so I avoid them when I can. Really don't like moving. Really do like the feeling of a "home" for the duration of the trip.

I will do one night at a value if we are arriving late in the day and move early the next day. If I would ever do a true split stay again, my minimum would be four nights at each resort.

My last two stays (one solo trip and one family trip) were rented points at BLT. We loved the Contemporary!! And I would really love to stay in a tower room someday. Had a wonderful dinner at California Grill and breakfast buffet at The Wave. I would stay the four nights at the Contemporary and settle in. Disney trips go by too quickly the way it is. Your wife and daughter will love that they can! :) I was surprised that I liked it so much!

I can not speak from experience because we have not done a split stay, yet. But I hope to in 2017 (next year's vacations are booked solid). We have only done one WDW vacation where we stayed on-site for more than four nights; that was at WL for six nights. The rest have been as little as one and as many as four, leading up to a DCL cruise. When we do a split stay it will be a minimum of six or seven nights, using one full day to skip the parks, transfer from one resort to the other, hit DTD, miniature golf, etc.

We actually make the resort just as much of our destination as we do the parks, going back in the middle of the day to rest a little, make dinning reservations, horse carriage ride, water mice rides, explore new territory, what ever is offered at the resort we are at. If I were to have only two nights at the resort it would only be if we have already stayed there before and know it frontwards and back (or leading up to another DCL cruise). And I knew we had at least four more nights at the resort we are moving to. One of our goals is to stay at as many WDW resorts as we can; while we still can, not that I'm getting up there in age :rolleyes1 And this is the reason I want to do a split stay next time, to stay at resorts we have not been to before.

We do split stays, but with only 4 nights I wouldn't want to change. If you really think you will be miserable not staying at the Poly, though, then it might be worth switching...

I have 4 nights over Christmas and am doing a split stay for budget reasons. I see no issue doing a split with 4 nights.
