Split Stay with Dolphin first- can I use Magic Bands?

So, we're looking at doing a split stay and staying at the Dolphin before switching over to the Polynesian. First question- in this situation, I'm thinking I should buy the tickets separate because if I buy a Disney package for the Polynesian the tickets won't start working until the day we check in at the Poly. Is that correct?

And, if it is, and I manage to link everything up in MDE, will I be able to use the Magic Bands that they send for the Polynesian portion of the stay while I'm at the Dolphin to access the parks and tap in at the Fastpass locations?

Your MB will work when you’re at the Dolphin. The tickets aren’t on the MB; they’re on MDE. The MB or the plastic card is just the key that connects to MDE.

If you book a package for Poly, you’ll be restricted to only pre-booking FPs for Poly.

With separately linked tickets, you can book for all park days when your FP booking window opens.

MBs will work for all park days.

Don't buy a package. If you do, you won't be able to pre-book any fastpasses for the first leg of your trip
