Split stay, what do I do with my fridge stuff?

We will be moving from POR to the BC during our Oct trip. We usually stock our fridge with breakfast stuff the first day we arrive. What would I do with my perishables during the switch? We are needing to be out of POR in the am, but I know our new room might not be ready for several hours. Has anyone found a solution to this without having to throw everything out and make yet another store run?

Maybe get a cheap cooler and put ice in it. When you get check in that morning at the new hotel have them store it for you if your room isn't ready. The ice won't melt as quick as it would if you left it in your car for the day.

We did a water park day our switch day since they opened up later.

We tried to only buy enough perishables to last those first few days and then did not buy anything after that besides water/pop. We did have medicine for my son's nebulizer (very small bottle) that had to stay refrigerated. I asked at check-in at the second resort and she sent me to the bell services desk. Apparently they put it in a fridge at the outdoor bell services desk since we couldn't get into our room for several hours. That evening when we got into our room and tried to get the medicine from bell services (at the Poly) it was a mess! I called down and she said, "Yes, we will have someone bring it up." 45 minutes later we still did not have it and I called again and was told, "We are too busy, you will have to come and get it." When I arrived to pick it up they picked it up off the counter. I assume it was laying there for the entire time from my first phone call. I was a little bit ticked off since the medicine was no longer chilled and was barely cold. We threw it away when we got home and refilled the scrip. I'm not sure if it affected it's effectiveness since my son only used a few times after that and it seemed to be fine.

We moved from SSR to BC when we stayed this past April. We also had picked up the cheap styrofoam coolers when we went to the store and packed it with ice to move perishables in. We told the bell person who picked up our luggage that they coolers needed to be kept cold and were assured that they had refrigeration to store them in.

Everything was fine.

PS the cooler worked out nicely to pack lunch when we went to Typhoon Lagoon.

Great idea, I hadnt thought about an ice chest. I was just dreading the thought of having to schlep back to the grocery store when it could all be done in one trip. Thanks.
