I was wanting to know if you can do a split stay with the military discount?trying to plan BW and Poly. any insight would be great, thanks.

Yes you can do a split stay with a military discount, we are doing one in September. Three nights YC then four nights CR.:cool1: However, you need to be aware that Disney only sets aside a limited number of rooms at the military discount rate and they do sell out quickly, so your best bet is to call Disney and check on the Resorts and dates you are looking at. If they have availability I'd recommend reserving right away, you can always cancel later if you need to.

Thanks for the info. I plan on booking very soon. Just got my wife to agree on going on another trip. We have been to SoG, AK, and Poly. We try and do something different every time, but we had so much fun at the Poly she wanted to stay again.

Absolutely. And it's actually easier because if you want the dining plan, you don't have to worry about the ticket requirements making it more expensive for you, since you can a dining plan without a minimum ticket purchase. :goodvibes

Have you spoken to the ticketing office at your base? They're always very helpful for us. I've always been told that Disney sets aside certain resorts for military discounts. So you might want to check that the resorts you want at discounted at that time.

Another voice of experience. We've done several split stays using the discount. Off the top of my head, we've done SSR/THV/BC, Poly, WL/Poly, AKV/(SoG)/BC all with the military discount at each stop (except at SoG).

Yes you can do it, but depending on your dates FD might be a better option depending how many days you will be in the parks (4 or more). This year is the first time that FD is actually a better deal than the military discount.

It really depends on who's in your party, the resort, and the room/level you've selected.
For some folks, free dining is a great deal. For others, for example, 40% off a Deluxe is a far better deal.

Availability can be limited, but in our experience it can change over time. "New" rooms do pop into the military discount. I know CRO often says that's not the case, but I have personal experience that it is. It's not quite like the AAA discount, that seems to be really limited as you go farther into the year.

It's worth calling once a week or so to keep checking if you're not finding your preferred resort. A bit of flexibility on dates helps, too!

I priced value, moderate and deluxe two different months Oct and Nov (AKL, WL) and it was still cheaper to do free dining. It really depends on the length of stay. If you are only planing in doing 4 days then military offer is cheaper, more than 4 day park tickets, it is cheaper to go with free dining. Here is how the numbers worked for our trip.

Military offer (hotel only) and buying tickets through Under cover tourist was $600 cheaper than our free dinning package at CBR (7 day hopper, fun option ticket and regular base ticket). $600 difference is not enough for 9 days/2 adults for food.

Military offer with dinning package buying 2 set of tickets each through military discount was $260 more than our free dinning package.

It was the same for every class of hotels. Not the exact numbers as a moderate but it was still cheaper doing free dinning for more than 4 days.

It really just depends on your vaca style. We don't ever do the DDP. We'd end up losing money because we don't do enough meals. At least not on property. We occasionally grab a pizza from our fave local spot or eat while off property shopping. When we do eat on site, for QS, we often split meals. We love the 40% off rooms and discount tickets (both the Salute and otherwise) and will probably alway choose those over the "free dining" offers.
