We just finalized our BLT purchase :cool1: and will be using our DP at SSR. We are doing the first part of the stay in a studio and the last part in a one bedroom just to use up the points. How much of a pain will it be to change rooms? Do we have to basically check out then check back in? Will they let us leave our luggage somewhere so we can get to the parks? TIA!

Congratulations, and Welcome Home!!:welcome:

You can call bell services to take your luggage and hold it, or if you are very lucky, you can go to the desk, check in, be told your villa is ready and go to your new room right away! Either way, I've found that moving isn't as hard as I worried it would be!

You will have to check out by 11 from the first villa. Your second villa may not be ready until after 4PM or later. If you have a car, you can leave your stuff in the car. If you don't have a car, you will need to get bell services to pick it up and store it for you until you have a room available.

Thanks for the replies! It seems like it won't be too bad. We are excited for our first DVC trip and even more excited for 2010 when we will stay at BLT!

We did exactly this last October. We stayed in a studio for 4 nights at SSR on Developer's Points, and then moved to a 1 BR for the last 2 nights just to use up our points. It was not a problem as our room was ready early that morning. We had a car so we just packed up everything, checked out, checked back in, and moved to our new location. If you don't have a car, bell services can hold your luggage for you if your room isn't ready. I do have to say though that next time I have to move, I'd rather do it earlier in the vacation. There just seems to be more "stuff" to move as the vacation goes on (souvenirs, dirty clothes, etc.). Have fun on your trip!

Will Bell services send luggage from one resort to another? We'll be staying at BCV, then to SSR. Will they send luggage between the two places?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice here.

Yes, they will. Just talk to Bell Services at the first resort and they will take care of it. You may have to be in the room to get your luggage at the second resort.

I'm thinking about doing a split stay next year during a big family vacation. What do folks do with refrigerated or frozen items?

Bell services held our frig items in a refrigerated storage area until we were able to get our room at AKL. I didn't have anything in the freezer.

They also have a secured area for computers, camera's etc. They give you an additional claim ticket for these items and you have to pick them up in person at the bell desk.

Congrats Briman and enjoy your stay! We did a split stay from Pop to CSR in Aug 2007 and because it went so smoothly we're doing one for our upcoming trip. Thanks DESTTVL for the info on the bell services refrigerated area and secured area, I'd been wondering about food items, laptop etc.

If you plan to get the Disney Dining Plan remember to use ALL OF YOUR CREDITS from your first resort by the end of the day of check-out...Otherwise you will lose them...You will need to pay for the dining plan twice and the first set of credits do not carry over to the second resort.

The one thing to keep in mind is perishable food. You won't have much coming from a studio, but if you have a car you might want to bring a cooler in case you need to keep some things for a few hours. Otherwise, just plan accordingly to not have much if any of these things remaining at the end of your studio stay.

Have a great time :thumbsup2

Guess I didn't read all the posts

Sometimes I'm like a loose cannon.

We will be splitting our stay between AKV and SSR this May & although I've puzzled out the transfer of luggage, I am wondering, since it is 2 separate reservations, if we add park tickets to our KTTW, will those be two separate sets of 4 days each? If so, that's not a savings!

You're right about that. Would you consider just getting an 8 day Park Pass that was not attached to your KTTW?

It sounds like that would probably be the best idea! I'm glad I thought to ask about this ahead of time! I was already aware that the DDP would be in two "bundles" (my DH doesn't want to believe that, and is spitting tacks over it), but I'm sure we can use up our points at the right time for that ... I just don't want to pay for our park passes two times over!

We did a split stay in 2007 with the DDP attached to just 1 of the reservations and the park passes attached to the KTTW keys. We had 7 day tickets, they didn't make us pay for a 4 day pass and a 3 day pass. This wasn't a DVC stay but would that make a difference?
