We are planning on going to WDW next October and we really want to try Polynesian Lagoon view concierge but we also love the Contemporary. We've never split a stay before. Twice we decided to add a night to our vacation and we couldn't get a room at the CR so we had to stay the first night at other resorts so we barely unpacked, therefore, it was easy to move.

For next October, we're thinking 4 nights at Polynesian and 5 at Contemporary or vice versa and we'll have an almost 4 year old with us. For those of you who have split your stays, did you wish you stayed put in the first resort or are you glad you tried a couple. Usually we like to unpack and get settled so I'm thinking that might be a pain.

I've done this a few times and I think it is worth it. I unpack at both places too (so yes, you have to add on a little time to pack and then unpack). I've been lucky in that I've been able to check out of 1 resort, then arrive at the other resort and have been able to check right in. The only real risk in this is that you have to check out of one hotel by 11am, yet may not be able to get into a new hotel until 3pm. If that issue doesn't bother you, then I say go for it.

hi: we've split stays a couple of times over the years. if it was a mid-trip stay, i made sure the laundry was done before the move. that way everything was clean. it's a great way to try out a different resort to see if you'd want to stay there again in the future. have a wonderful time!

We split our last stay between the Polynesian and AKL. Everything went smoothly with absolutely no problems. We packed our stuff on the morning we were checking out of the Polyneisan, called Bell Services and went off to Epcot. We spent the day there and then just took the bus to AKL late afternoon and checked in. We got to our room and Bell Services brought up luggage. I enjoyed being able to experience two resorts, and it made our vacation seem longer!

Our up-coming November trip will be our second split-stay vacation. (In June we stayed at AKL & BWI) We really enjoyed it and have decided it will be the ONLY way we vacation at Disney from now on. Yes, it is a bit of a pain to have to un-pack and then pack up again, but to us it's worth the minor inconvenience. We have enjoyed all the resorts we have stayed at and when you split it's as if you have two separate vacations. Same parks, but different views and things to do at the resorts.

We like to stay at a MK area resort the first part of the trip and then we end up at an EPCOT resort for the end of the trip. (EPCOT is our favorite park) Our kids were 4 & 8 last trip and they stayed at an on-site daycare (Simaba's Cubhouse at the AKL) for the first time. Next trip they want to try the Neverland Club at the Polynesian. They also like to try different things.

Have fun!

Jill

I think it's a great idea to split stays if you are going to be there for 9 nights. I would split between a MK resort and an Epcot resort like Jill said. You are so close to Epcot and MGM at the Epcot area resorts, and they are all very nice places.

We'll be there in Aug. 2004 for the family reunion, and we might want to try this. We are leaning toward buying annual passes, since we already have AP's to US/IOA. To cut costs, has anyone started out at a moderate resort then "upgraded" to a deluxe to end the week?

We've never done a split stay either, mainly because DH feels a day is lost in the move, and there is a portion of the day you are roomless.

We are thinking of trying a split stay for our trip in July...the first two nights at the Swan with the teachers discount,(and a late check-out) and the last 6 nights at the YC. The only reason we are thinking of this is to save some money, because those first two nights are a much higher rate at the YC. If we wind up doing this, I would pack one large suitcase with what we would use on those first two days, and not even unpack the rest until we get to the YC.

Of course, if Disney comes out with great package like this past summer, this is a mute point, and we'll be at the YC for the entire stay!!:teeth:

We thought of that too. We have wanted to try Beach Club for a while and I'm sure our daughter would love SAB. Thanks everyone, have a great day!

Last year we split (BCV and AKL) and this year we'll be splitting again. I enjoy it and it's really not too much of a bother, but it does have its downside. It does take some time out of your day to pack at your old resort and checkin at new resort, and you are without a room for several hours. Having a car makes it a little easier; you can take some things with you and let Disney move the rest, and getting to your new resort is no problem.

We split every single trip. I however never unpack so Its very easy for me to do so. in addition we are DVC so we do DVC first and when we leave the villa everything in the suitcases are washed and back in the suitcase. Then we move to a deluxe and utilize things like room service to make it easier. I also must say. I carry one 26 inch pullman for Myself, DS9 and twin DS's 3. When they were babies and we had diapers and the like wqe carried one more duffle with essentials and we have always split. i find it very easy and a great way to get 2 differant resort experiences in one trip! This coming trip we are Boardwalk villas followed by AKL. The next one Swan followed by Beach club villas!
