Split Stay/Mugs?

If you do a split stay, does that mean you have to buy the refillable mugs twice? I was planning on booking POP/POR however, I hate two buy mugs twice times 5 people!! Thanks.

Technically, the language on the mugs say they are only good for the resort you are staying at and for the length of your stay.

However, some have said that CM told them they are good at any resort. JMHO, given your situation, I think that you should be able to use them for your whole stay. It counts as one trip, just a split stay. Once you switch resorts, you will no longer be using them at the 1st resort so its not like you are using them all over. But rather, buying them to use for your resort stay.

When they updated the mug designs, they also changed the wording on the policy. Now, it states that you can use the mug at any resort refill station during your length of stay. I believe that the only resort excluded from this policy is the CSR, because they are contracted with another soda vendor or something along those lines.

Nope we use the same ones since they are the same design and no one would know the difference...if they were different mugs then we would purchase the new ones

Yep...they changed the wording on the mugs with the intro of the YOMD mugs eliminating the "resort where you purchased it" limitations.
Of course, anything regarding the mugs tends to become a very highly debated issue here, but it seems like using the same ones for a split say is a pretty accepted practice. In any event, it seems to be more of a DIS issue, not so much an actual Disney issue...

On a different note, I miss the old mug designs from the different resorts! they were fun to collect!!!

Thanks guys! I did not know that they changed the mugs to be all the same at the resorts. This is good news, as the thought of buying 10 mugs had me hesitating with a split stay!

The only exception to all of this is CSR. CSR still has resort specific mugs. So if you do a split stay that involves that resort, you'd technically need to buy new mugs.

While I loved the old resort specific mugs (and have many of them!) since we do a split stay most every trip, its really nice to just have to buy one set of mugs now.

The mugs have been resort generic (cept for CSR) for about 3 years now. You can use them for your entire stay, regardless of how many times you switch resorts. Say's so right on the soda fountains. WDW changes them each year now.

With the exception of Coronado Springs which still sells their resort logo mug, there is no way to tell what resort you purchased the generic mugs from. So no one will question you if you bring them to Port Orlenas Riverside, despite purchasing them from Pop Centurty.
