I seem to remember people talking about problems with their bands when they did a split stay. Is that still an issue, and what exactly IS the issue?

We did not have any problems with our Magic Bands on our split stay back in March. We stayed one night in a studio at OKW and then moved to a THV and had no problems at all.

We did a three way split stay in November 2013 using MBs. We didn't have any problems. We were able to use all three of MBs we were mailed at each resort. And we did not have any problems at the parks either. We a voucher number for our APs and had to add the APs to our MDE account (versus the voucher number). The CM at Ticketing at DHS (not Guest Relations) added the AP within a few minutes per ticket.

When we checked I did ask the receptionist to confirm that all of the MBs were shown as active, but in reality I can do that myself on MDE.

Just make sure that you are actually checked out of the first resort before you check in to the second. If not, that's when you could experience problems.

Otherwise, assuming your bands are listed as active in MDE and your reservation(s) are linked to your MDE account, you should be just fine.

By check out, you mean go to the front desk and literally check out? What if you leave your CC to automatically check out?

They have to actually check you out in the computer. I don't know when that happens for the express check out.

If you don't want to stop and check out at the front desk, you can tell the CM at the second resort that you may not be checked out at the first resort and that CM should be able to take care of it. By now, I would think all the CMs are aware of this issue.

If you are checking in to a new resort it is a really bad idea to use automatic check out. Causes all sorts of problems at the new resort. You should go to the desk and make sure that have fully checked you out.

We did not officially "check out" of our first resort this last March before moving to the Treehouse. I was kind of oblivious to the whole thing assuming it would "just work" and lo and behold, it did. I think the CM at SSR noticed we were not checked out yet and did that before checking us in.

That said, it's probably a good idea to ensure positive closure when you leave one resort.

We just completed a split stay last week. 3 nights at Art of Animation and 4 nights at Saratoga Springs. We were sent 2 sets of MB's, one for each resort, but ended up just needing to use the one set, as it was all linked thru MDE.

On checkout from Art of Animation, we didn't really check out. We had bell services take our luggage and transfer it to Saratoga springs, and we headed off to the park. Is that automatic check-out? (Come to think of it...we stayed at 3 separate hotels this whole trip and in not one did we actaully go to the front desk when we left...)

When we finally got to Saratoga later in the day, they didn't have any issue with our bands. Although the CM did check to make sure that my band was setup right before we headed off to the room.

"Thinking" of doing a split stay....So, you give luggage to Bell Services and they take care of getting it to your next resort? So, we just leave, go to park and luggage will "make its way" to 2nd resort hopefully! Good to hear! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Sounds GREAT!:thumbsup2
