I am planning a Feb. trip with Mom (72) and DD 10 and DD 13. (Hubby is staying home) We have decided on AKL. My question is would it be a big hassle to spend a few days concierge level and then move to a regular savanna view? I really think everyone would enjoy the sunrise safari but I just can't justify the cost of concierge for 6 nights. Is the sunrise safari something not to miss? Or should we just go for a regular savanna room and enjoy the animals from there?

We have split our stay @ POR - 3 days in AB section & 3 in a mansion. We've also split a stay @ GF between garden & lagoon views. If you don't mind packing up, then it's no big deal & easy to do. There are only 2 of us and we travel light (I wash clothes mid-stay), so it's been relatively easy every time we've resort hopped or changed rooms within the same resort. In 2 weeks we'll be staying at 5 different resorts & can't wait! However, this August we've decided to stay put @ POR for 8 nts., with the possibility of switching rooms after 4 nights.

I did exactly that last summer. We started out at AKL concierge and then moved to a regular savannah room. I didn't feel it was a hassle at all.

Personally, I loved the Sunrise Safari. We are doing it again this summer. Have fun whatever you decide.

I'd be interested in further comments from DeeCee about whether you might want to start out in standard and then move to concierge. In December we went from a 1-bedroom villa to a standard room at AKL. The AKL room was fine, but it was a huge adjustment! :D

I would agree was it a big adjustment to go from concierge to a regular room. I think we may do it the other way and finish our trip at the concierge level.
