Hello All!

I've read twice on the boards of people being able to transfer their dining plan to the second portion of their split stay WITHOUT having to buy a single day park ticket for the second part of their stay.

After reading a post on this, I did try to do it myself and the CM was very nice and totally understood my point, he put me on hold to double check several things and came back saying that NO that was not available at this time.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has actually been successful in this venture!

Thanks!

The dining plan is only able to be purchased (by non-AP holders and non-DVC points guests) if you purchase a complete package. It starts the day you check in and expires at midnight of the day you check out. If you don't purchase a package for your next stay beginning the next day, you can't get the dining plan for that part of your stay. The package includes the purchase of tickets.

We're doing a split stay, with first half being on dining plan (part of package including tickets). Second half we'll be on our own for food, it's only 3 days so no big deal. I actually like the idea of not being tied to any TS ressies for a few days.

I don't know if this is correct or not, but I have read on these boards that if you are an AP holder you can buy the ddp w/o purchasing a package. Maybe you can double check that w/the CM? The ddp always has a hint of mystery about it!!!

This is true. I did it for my trip in May.

Hi:
We just came back from a split stay port orleans/poly. We did 5 days at each and only did the dining plan for the first part of our stay. But that was because I felt I had to save a bit of money to help offset the price of the more expensive resort. We also felt at the end of the five days we had kind of overeaten and wanted to eat a little lighter for the rest of the stay or go home 10 pounds heavier. So it was fine for us to do room only and it also gave us a little more freedom from a set schedule of where to be for each meal which we enjoyed.

We bought a ten day one day park pass which we were able to use for the total ten days. I wondered if I needed the hopper but decided I could upgrade at anytime if we needed this. We have been 7 times to wdw and just wanted to do this trip a little more relaxed and do and see other things on our non touring park time. This worked out great for us as we did not feel like we had to stay in the parks all day to get our moneys worth.

I inquired about doing the diningplaln the whole ten days but was told that during the switch I would have to buy at least a one day pass for each of us in the room but I think this pass could have been put away for another visit as it is good forever (check this out) and then we could add the diningplan on.
It ended up doing the math we actually saved money not doing the diningplan for the three of us, (but only one sitdown compared to one every day, so I was not comparing apples to apples). I have an adult daughter who hardly eats anything so her and I did alot of split meals. The final five days we did only one sitdown at prime time and the rest were at counterservice or outside disney chillis, and cici's pizza.
