Split Stay/ Dining Plan Question

We are planning a 10 day trip for next June/July. We are considering a split stay but also want to do deluxe dining. It is just DH and and I. I've been trying to sort through the information here on the board but I'm still a bit confused. My question is this: If one of us has an annual pass and the other has a 10-day ticket, will our deluxe dining be able to carry over to the 2nd resort? Does the annual pass make this possible without the purchase of additional tickets?
I'd like to do the split stay but I think if it's going to mess up our dining costs I may have to give up the idea.:sad1: I'd like to do AKL for the full 10 days but DH absolutely loves POP (not that I don't like it but...) so a split seems like a perfect compromise.
Also, sorry if this is stupid, but if I did split stay could I still make all my ADRs at 180 days for the whole 10 days of the trip or only the days at the first resort and then 180 days out from the second resort?
Thanks, some of you make this look so easy!:flower3:

If one of us has an annual pass and the other has a 10-day ticket, will our deluxe dining be able to carry over to the 2nd resort? Does the annual pass make this possible without the purchase of additional tickets?

Yes. If one has an annual pass, you can purchase a ticketless room/dining package for either or both reservations, and the one who needs tickets can buy them separately.

And technically, the dining does not "carry over" to the second reservation - you have separate dining plans with each reservation. You still have to use all the credits on the first reservation before midnight on the day you check out of the first resort. So you can carry them over only for the first day.

To expand a bit on the process.

If you have someone wtih an AP available you can book a "ticketless package" through WDW. This allows you to reserve a room and add a dining plan onto the package without buying tickets. The AP holder will have to be the primary guest on this reservation.

How this works with a split stay is relatively simple. The easiest method would be to simply book both stays as ticketless packages with dining. On the transfer day, you would have both sets of credits available to you until midnight following the first checkout. This is important as you will want to finish up those credits before starting on the new stay!

(Hope this clears things up a bit)
This little chart below illustrates a short split-stay, Arriving (A) about 8am on Day 1, Transferring (T) at about 8am Day 3, and then Departing (D) around noon on Day 5.
Code:
1 A 2 3 T 4 5 D
|------|------|------|------|------|
  |____DDP1__________| |
                |_______DDP2_______|

|------| = 1 Day in 4hr blocks
As described above, your first stay's DDP begins the moment you check in and expires midnight following your check out (in this case, the transfer). Your second stay's DDP begins the moment you check in at that resort (in this day, the transfer again) and expires midnight following your check out there. That overlap you see is where you want to be careful and make sure you use DDP1's credits first until they're gone and then you should start with DDP2's credits.

Thanks so much for clearing this up. When I talked to a Disney CS person last week they had me completely confused. This now seems do-able if we watch that we use our credits by the end of first checkout. Thanks again!
