Split stay + dining plan conundrum

Riddle me this. I had a split stay booked (1 night at Boardwalk, then moving to Riviera for 4 days). I got the dining plan for the one night at Boardwalk, so we’d do a couple of fancy meals, grab some snacks, and have mugs to use for the rest of the trip. Well, I just found out that night opened up at Riviera, so I could move the reservation over. Same room type as the other Riviera days. Would they combine the two Riviera reservations and cancel my one-night dining plan? I don’t want to get the dining plan for the whole week. Thanks!

Yes, that is the way it is supposed to work. If you try to keep them separate, you could have to switch rooms.

The only way you wouldn’t is to put a note on it, but since they would be the same room, when you called to do that, they'd combine them for you

I have had them combined on my own as well when it got close..like a few months out

If the rooms are different sizes or views, it might work, but if they’re the same in all respects, you’ll lose the dining plan. I think DVC keeps close watch on that because people used to try to get around the length of stay rules by making two reservations that were for the same accommodations.
