Split Stay Dining (and Activity) Reservations Question

Hi, this has probably been covered elsewhere but sorry, I couldn't find what I was looking for.

We have a split stay coming up in July - 3 nights at Kidani followed by 8 nights at BCV (preceded by 3 nights at Universal). If we were at the same place the whole time, we would be able to book dining and activities out further (as I recall the last time, I could only go 10 nights out, though, not the whole stay) so it was easier to the harder reservations because I could book further out than a lot of other people. But because we have a split stay, we have to book for the 2 legs of our stay separately and likely will miss out on some of the things we really want to do. We don't get to come very often so really want to do our favorites, especially while the grandsons are little. They grow up so fast..

Is there any way to book for the length of our stay once our first window opens that I am missing? Thanks for any input.

If you are DVC, no. If you are paying cash, I believe you can but you have to call to make your reservations. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Split stays can only make reservations for the first stay at 60 days. The second stay will need to wait for 60 days from that check-in date. It doesn't matter if it's DVC or a cash reservation. I spoke with several people about this yesterday and was told the policy changed this year - last year they had a way to manually work around this and make reservations for the entire stay over the phone, but they do not this year.

I had this same issue, as we have a split stay beginning June 2 and our ADR window for our first resort opened yesterday. I did find a work around that isn’t ideal for everyone, but worked for me. I booked a third reservation for the entire duration of my trip at an Allstar using the current 25% off promo. I had to pay one nights deposit at the time of booking, I think it was around $145, using my credit card. Once the window has opened and passed for both of my split stay reservations, I will cancel my Allstar reservation and my deposit will be refunded to my credit card.

I know it isn’t ideal, but it did allow me to utilize my 60+10 to get the dining reservations we wanted when my first window yesterday morning.

Thank you both. I didn't realize this had posted because once I typed my draft a thread on this popped up (which hadn't when I searched the subject). I like the work around. So are you sure your reservations won't be cancelled because the reservation they are linked to is cancelled, lilben?

Yes, I actually canceled the full length of stay reservation this morning as I’m now in the ADR window for both of my split stay reservations. I still have all of my existing dining reservations. There was even a message when I cancelled notifying me that no dining reservations were cancelled and that I would need to do that separately if I wanted. I’ll post the message below….

Please be aware that any existing dining, tour or recreation reservations you have booked have not been canceled. If you wish to modify or cancel these types of reservations, please contact us.

Can I ask how this worked since you already had hotels on your reservation in the MDE? Did they just add the other hotel as if you booked two separate stays?

It didn’t seem to matter at all, just showed as a third reservation in MDE. When you looked at each day individually, it showed both reservations for the same day.
