Split stay decisions....

DH and I have booked our trip for October 2019!

Currently I have POP booked.
I was originally hoping to snag a DVC rental, but he took to long to agree to go on the trip in the first place, so, I think we have missed the boat. Keeping an eye out though!

So instead, I am considering a split stay.

He wanted All Star Sports, but I believe there is a couple sporting conventions on the first couple days we are there. He doesnt like too much noise at night, he is a super light sleeper.

So now I am thinking All Star Movies/Music split with AoA (Little Mermaid)

I've already made all our ADRs, so I think I might need to call so they can help me modify so I don't loose my ADRs?

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?
I'd really love to do DVC, but...yeh that's gone unless anyone happens to have an already confirmed reservation for our dates

I would stick with Pop so you will have 2 queen beds, otherwise you will have 2 double beds at AoA and any of the AllStar resorts. None of these resorts are particularly quiet, but with the renovated rooms at Pop, at least you will have larger beds. The LM rooms at AoA are very far from the lobby/food court/buses. If you do decide to modify your reservations, you don't need to worry about affecting your ADR's. They aren't connected to your resort stay. They would stay intact even if you outright cancelled your resort.

I don't mean quiet as in silent, just quiet as in, he can sleep at night. I suppose it will also depend on what room we end up getting (away from high foot traffic etc)
The distance to lobbies etc won't bother us really.

I read somewhere recently that if you cancel your Resort reservation, you cancel your ADR?
If I did a split stay I would need to "cancel" at least a portion of it, unless I called and they did it for me?

Your resort reservation and dining reservations are not linked. If you cancel a resort reservation, your ADR's remain intact. If you modify your resort reservation, they also remain intact. Yes, if you cancel your resort reservation and have no intention of going to the ADR's you've booked, you have to cancel the ADR's as well or you will be charged a no-show fee.

If you decide to do a split stay, the easiest thing to do is to modify the reservation you currently have at Pop to one of the reservations you now want (AllStars or AoA) and then book the second resort.

In terms of noise, it's luck of the draw. I've had noise issues at every level of resort at WDW. Values, unfortunately, are not known for being quiet.

In regards to the ADR's, things can get tricky on your first day in the new resort. As your ADR's are tied to a resort stay, if you are in the parks after you leave your first resort and before you check into your second, they may say that you are out of meals points until you check into the next resort.

Dining plans are tied to resort stays, but ADRs are not. There is no resort stay required in order to book ADRs.

No where did the OP state they had the DDP.
ADR's are NOT tied to resort stays. You do not even need to be staying on property to make ADR's.
OP, you can do whatever you want with your resort and it will not jeopardize your ADR's

OP, If your husband is a light sleeper, I would definitely stay away from the All Stars. The walls at that resort are paper-thin. Maybe even thinner than that. I spent 5 sleepless nights at an All Stars many years ago. And this wasn't during a convention or a cheerleading event or Pop Warner, etc. This was just the noise from my next-door neighbors and from the corridor outside. And I live in an apartment in a big city--it's not like I'm used to being in a house in the silent countryside!

The soundproofing at POP is somewhat better, but try to get a room that doesn't have a connecting door and isn't at the end of a corridor--those two things can be a nasty combination.

You didn't say how many days your stay is, but unless you don't mind unpacking, packing, and unpacking again and being without a room for several hours on move day, split stays are, to me, pretty annoying. Other people disagree and love split stays. For anything less than a 10-day trip, I think a split stay is a lot of work, even if they move your bags for you. I mean, what if you want to come back to the resort midday and your room's not ready yet? And I like to unpack and live in the place where I'm staying, although I realize that some people live out of their suitcases and this works for them. I'm just pointing out some things for you to take into consideration.

Also, as PPs have stated, your ADRs aren't tied to your resort reservations. No worries there.

For future reference, ADR stands for "Advanced Dining Reservation". If someone is referring to the dining plan, they will typically refer to it as QSDP, DDP or DxDP.

I would keep the POP reservation. By that time, hopefully the Gondola will be up and running and you can use that for some of your transportation to HS and EP. :)

My God, I stand corrected. I meant if you have the dining plan you may have an issue.

We have a 9 night stay ☺
I like to semi unpack the things I know I will use often, and leave the rest in the suitcase.
I travel for work often so have become pretty efficient at this
