I have two consecutive nights in a studio at BLT but one is a lake view and one is a standard view. What is the best way to try and get the same room for both nights so I don't have to move? I don't care about "paying" for the lake view but actually staying in a standard room.

Any advice is appreciated.

Waitlist a Lake view for the night you have the standard view. Standard view has the fewest available rooms, and lake view has the most rooms. Chances of a lake view opening up are greater than a Standard. They can't let you stay in the same room if the room isn't open.

As noted by luckyman APD, you would need to do a waitlist in order to stay in the same room for those two days. Unfortunately, you can just offer the point difference to stay in the standard, since someone else already has that room reserved for the day that you are in the LV studio.

You can have two active waitlists, so you could do one for the LV and one for the standard view and as long as one comes through, that will give you the two nights in the same room. Single night waitlists have a pretty good chance of coming through, depending on the time of year you are traveling.

You can also "stalk" the on-line reservation system and if one of those rooms opens up, book it and then have MS link the reservations.

If there is general availability for those type of rooms (non DVC) is there any chance that they'll accommodate me when I check in even if I have 2 different reservations?

I don't believe so. You would be using the wrong number of points either way and normally the front desk won't override this- (if they have a lakeview room available for both nights they may use your own points to upgrade you which may end up with all the points you are currently using in holding and them taking new points out of your account). Your best bet to stay in the same room is to try and get a lakeview instead of a standard studio for the one night. If you don't have the points to upgrade to a lakeview for the 2nd night then plan on changing rooms.

I'm renting the points so that complicates thing a little further and I've already been a really big PITA with the owner (waitlists, split stays, etc.) so I'm hesitant to have them make more changes to the reservations.

I think you should leave well enough alone. Speaking from an owner's perspective.

As it stands now you will have to move units and be orphaned. I'd ask the owner to WL each options agreeing to pay the extra if you get the higher view the second night and that you'd accept the lower view at the same price with no refund as you stated. You likely should not have accepted the current reservation setup so maybe lesson learned.

The only possible glitch I see with waitlisting both options is that one would have to make sure they monitored it closely and cancel the second one if the first one comes through.

Typically, they will do this if it is for the same night. I don't know if you could set it up that says, cancel the wait list for a different night if one comes through.

As mentioned, with this being a rental, I would just ask for a wait list for the LV room and go from there..although, my wait list for a few nights in December just came through and it was the SV one that filled, not the LV...that was suprising!

Good luck!

I think they will make you move - I had booked my DD in a std 2 bdrm at BWV for 1 night because she had the next 7 nights in a garden view thru an RCI exchange and she asked when she checked in if she could just stay in the standard room for the full 8 nights (at the time I did not think it would be a problem as they could have just upgraded someone from Std to preferred and less mouse keeping for the staff) but she had to check out and was homeless for the day until the new room was ready. If I had known this I probably would have booked her in the 1 bdrm LV room BLT for the 1 night so her friends could have experienced BLT 1 night.

The DVC resorts are built to function at near capacity year-round. So there is little to no room for the front desk or manager to accommodate people into something they had not booked. Don't ever assume maneuvering can be done when you get there, because about 95 percent of the time, it can't.

hmm... sounds like the hope it will work out strategy isn't the best. I'm not worry about being homeless for a day, we get up early and head to the parks anyway so as long as everything is ready when we get back its fine.

I don't want to bother the owner and we are already waitlisted for the second half our stay (currently in a 1BR at SSR which I desperately want out of).

When it gets closer (going end of jersey week) and I have her add my flights and link the multiple reservations, i'll have her add a LV waitlist to the studio at BLT.

Thanks for all the input.
