split stay confusion

I am starting to get all of my ducks in a row to book at my 11 month opening in January. We are planning on staying from Dec 26th-31st. Since Dec 26th is a Saturday, we are planning at staying at a value for a night before transfering to AKV. If I leave pop early the next morning, and took a cab over to AKV, will they let me check-in around 6am? I know the room won't be ready, but I would like to get our room keys/dining plan before the rope drop at the parks on the 27th.

You certainly should be able to check in but if a room is not ready I'm not sure if you can get keys. A couple of years ago we checked in at 7AM. Since no room was ready we just left our bags with bell services and went to the parks. At that time we had APs with the DDE card so no room key was needed. Sorry this really doesn;t answer your question.....maybe a phone call to AKV to see....

You can have the value resort transfer your luggage if you would like. They can also arrange to have a van take you and your luggage to your DVC. I would ask when you check in and let them know it would be a very early morning departure.

We have done this while staying at POR and moved to OKW.

I have heard different early check in times. It has something to do with with the reservation or room key system coming online for the new day. We have checked in between 7 and 8 AM at different resorts without any problems and we were always given our KTK cards then.

We did this just last month at SSR. We stayed in a studio our first night then checked into a GV early the next morning. We checked in around 7 a.m. We did recieve our room keys at the time of check-in. They gave us a number to call later in the day to get our room assignment. They also took my cell number and said they would call us if the room was ready and we hadn't called them to get our room number.

That's exactly how it worked for us on a previous trip. They gave us our keys without a room assigned to it. But, that way we had our tickets.

Take a cab from Pop to AKV? We were just there last week and our friends did just that. The cab driver got lost and it took them over an hour to get there. I'm sure that's not the norm, but still...

We have done that before (Pop to SSR) and will be doing it again in Jan (CBR to SSR). Resort will give you keys so you can use it for park entry and DDP. You can move your bags or have hotel do it for you, whatever you feel comfortable with.
