Split stay but at same resort

We did this last month at POR however we were in 2 different room categories (standard for 2 nights, preferred for the next 6). If I was happy with our first room I was going to ask the FD if we could just stay in it, but I'm pretty sure we were in one of the furthest possible rooms. So when it was time to switch I wanted to get one that was closer. I just packed up, and called bell services that morning, the came & took all our bags, and we headed to a park. We came back got to our new room, called bell services again, and the same bell hop brought all our stuff back. Super easy. I did tip him generously as we were on the 2nd floor in buildings without elevators.
