Do many of you move to a studio from a 1 bedroom for Fri & Sat night to save points? Is doing that much of a hassle since I'm assuming that it is two different reservations (or 3 if you move back into the 1 Bedroom on Sunday)? In that situation then would you be stopping at the front desk to "check-in" 3 times during your trip? How does that work?

Yes, you do have to check in and out with each change, and there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to stay in the same complete unit (i.e. the connected 1 bedroom and studio).

We never do it. We hate moving and are much happier just getting in and "nesting" for the week. It helps mentally if you just look at what the points cost for the week as a whole, rather than obsess over how much more the weekend points are. I rather think of it as how much LESS the weekday points are. The whole week cost is still way better than paying cash for rooms or downgrading to lesser accomodations. JMHO

We haven't moved from a 1BR to a studio, but we've stayed at a value or moderate for the weekend nights. I don't mind moving at all, I just plan ahead for it when packing. Our next trip I am considering the studio for the weekends, however, depending on what kind of a rate I can get for a value or mod. Bell services will move your luggage for you, but we always have a car and just do it ourselves. If we move within the same resort, we'll have bell services hold it until the room is ready. I'm hoping to someday have enough points that it's not an issue, but right now I have to be stingy!

We split stay all the time. In April we are staying at AKV and we are staying in three different rooms. How better to check them out first hand. Moving doesn't take that long and a split stay is the best way to take advantage of the DDP.

We just bought DVC, but before we owned we almost always split our stay between two WDW resorts. Now that we own (we bought the minimum 160 points), we plan to typically do the same thing.

Since I don't want to move from a 1 BR down to a studio just for the weekend, what we're doing is staying the first 3 nights in a studio, then the next 4 nights in a 1 BR. That way if we travel on a Saturday through a Saturday, we have 1 weekend night in the studio and 1 weekend night in the 1 BR.

We like to split our stay so we can sample different resorts, but we also have our own car so that makes it easier.

We've stayed in either a DVC Studio or a Moderate resort on Fridays and Saturdays, and then moved to a DVC 1-BR.

However, now that I've bought some more points, we'll probably be doing this less.

I wouldn't want to move more than once.

I do like split stays because I want to try every resort:goodvibes

Staying put is also very nice....If I was to move....I would go to
a different resort.....not get a studio at same resort...

Moving to a different resort.....feels like 2 different vacations.

The last 2-3 years (and this coming summer) we have stayed 9-10 nights. We stay in a studio for 3-4 nights at VWL or BCV and then the last 6-7 nights in a 1 bdrm at OKW. OKW because the points are cheaper and it's bigger and more laid back to relax before we go home. I wouldn't move just for Fri. and Sat. In order for us to move it would have to be for 4 or more days.
