We are planning a trip for September and are staying a week at Bonnet Creek..have stayed there twice before and love it there! I am considering adding two night to either AKL or Poly...just wondering if this is a good idea or not? should I do it at the beginning or end of trip?
I was thinking the days we stay there will be low key hanging around resort enjoying it and doing AK maybe..

We have done this and enjoyed it, as long as you understand moving day will be a "wasted" day as far as going to a park.

Once we did three nights of free dining at Disney, then moved to a timeshare. Had enough meal credits to use up the last day that we had tons of leftovers to eat for the next few days.

Another time we stayed one night in an AKL studio that a great friend gifted to us because she had expiring points. Then we moved to a 2br at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. That let us enjoy an extra full day of activities around the resort.

I think it could work out fine. If it were me, I'd start with the hotel room and move to the condo. It would be hard for me to "squeeze down" mid-trip, and I have more energy earlier, so the lack of "chill space" would be less of an issue.

Thanks.
We will have three young kids and don't think my DH could handle 10 days in a hotel room but would love to stay at AKL...am thinking those days won't be commando park days. We would probably hang around resort the day we get there and do animal kingdom the next day and then check out day will probably be down day anyways...just wondering if we should do it at beginning or end of vacation.

We did a split our last trip, 4 days at Port Orleans and 7 at our timeshare. This trip just reinforced how much disdain I have for hotel rooms, but I'd do it again cause it's fun and I like to complain about it to my wife ;).

We did on site first and then as said above enjoyed spreading out into larger accommodations. Actually we do most our trips like this, I burn off what ever hotel points I have for the year and we add it to the beginning of our trip. This past years I did not have enough points to get everyone in our group rooms, so if I was going to pay for a few days why not stay on site.

On our moving day we slept in, not because we were gonna burn the day, but we were at the MK till 2 AM the night before for EMH. We loaded the rental up and hit HS from 11 ish till 4. Then we headed for Lake Shore Reserve.

I have stayed a few extra days at the end of a vacation in a hotel but have done it in the beginning more, there is a reason we have done it one way more than the other. Good luck with what ever you chose, either way sounds like a good time :goodvibes

We did this in 2010. First we stayed at the radisson on 535 then went for 2 nights at YC.
We really enjoyed it

We usually do it but make sure to go from the smaller place to the bigger place other wise you will hate it when you move to the smaller space as everyone is cranky and more tired especially kids and the small space will get to them. We usually move from POR to Bonnet creek and the space is soo welcomed by everyone.
