We are considering splitting our stay for our May 2016 since we will be going for 8 or 9 nights, we have never done a split stay before since personally I think it would be painful to pack up after 3 or 4 nights and then haul your stuff to a second hotel.

We will have about 5 pieces of luggage (large and carryon sizes) plus groceries (drinks, snacks, etc)

We would be staying at DL hotel first then heading over to PP, will the bell desk or concierge transfer our luggage/supplies for us? Or help us walk over?

From experience, generally how manageable or unmanageable are split stays? Looking for the Good, Bad or Ugly!!

I've never done a split stay, so I can't attest to that. But I would personally choose to stay at DLH hotel second, not first. IMO, it's a nicer hotel. Would want to upgrade if I'm switching half way through.

price is a huge factor for us esp with our CDN exchange rate -- it is cheaper for us to stay at the DL hotel in a standard room at the beginning of our trip then head over to PP in a theme park view room for the remaining nights!
We have stayed at both hotels before and don't feel like staying at PP second would diminish our visit!
I have a reservation for a theme park room at PP for our entire stay but we can save some money by splitting our stay and then we get to experience both hotels in one stay!

I totally understand the split stay. But as Ive mentioned Paradise Pier does offer nice stuff too (Great Cafe/Bar in the Lobby with TV, bagel toaster, and microwave and PCH Grill Character Dining). The new pool slide and stuff is great. Also actual Pool Bar there too.

...personally I think it would be painful to pack up after 3 or 4 nights and then haul your stuff to a second hotel.
I've done a split stay between GCH and VGC (the same hotel) and found it a waste of time, and vowed "Never Again". I should say "Never Say Never", since I am at the GCH and packing this morning to move to VGC.

Much of the problem is that we travel "heavy", bringing way too much stuff. We will likely be without a room from 11AM to 4PM, perhaps longer.
