I'm treating two of my friends to a quick getaway next week. It was so difficult to get last minute reservations. Luckily I was able to get a room at AKV, surprisingly the only resort available, for both nights. We have a split stay though. One night in a standard view one bedroom, one night in a savannah view one bedroom. How much of a pain is this going to be? The only real disadvantage is not having room access from 11-4ish. What's the chance they might be able to combine at check in? It was either this, or nothing. I even tried for studios - anywhere. No such luck.

I'd waitlist, and if that doesn't work stay at SSR or OKW. I wouldn't stay in AK at 2 different rooms. There is a low chance you can have the same room at AK, but I would plan a different resort, if the waitlist doesn't come through.

If you are booked on points plan on staying in two different rooms. I would waitlist for the savannah view otherwise you would cause points to to into holding if the waitlist comes through. FYI I would not ask for a change when checking in the front desk people are known to mess up points with they try to change things.

I have split stayed at AKL from a CL Level studio to Savanna View studio - multiple times. Just check-in for the new room and request first available that morning, call bell services to hold your luggage, and head out to the pool, DTD, one of the parks, etc.

I wouldn't rely completely on the waitlist, I would be checking availability several times per day online. I planned a short (4 night) last minute trip to AKV for this September. I wanted a 1BR savanna view at Kidani. Initially it was not available for any night. I booked a standard view and kept checking availability online. After 2 days, I found the 3rd and 4th night available and switched. After a few more days I found the 1st and 2nd night and switched those.

If you are able to check several times per day, I bet that you will end up finding the room you need, especially since you are only looking to get one night.

I just called member services. I lost the savannah view and was able to book the two consecutive nights in the one bedroom standard. Very happy!
