Split stay at same resort - questions

We are considering a split stay to take advantage of free dining. My sister received a pin for free dining, however, her family is checking in on December 2, a day later than we are. It is my understanding, that she needs to be present at check in for us to take advantage of this pin. Therefore we would make a room only reservation for December 1st (our first night), and then a 6 night package with free dining beginning December 2nd at the same resort (CSR). My questions are as follows:

1. Can we still take advantage of magical express?
2. Will we be able to pick up our park tickets our first morning (December 2) prior to her arrival?
3. Am I correct in assuming we won't be able to take advantage of free dining until she checks in and we check back in under our second reservation?

As long as you have a reservation for a Disney-owned resort, you can use ME. Be sure to provide your arrival information for the first stay and your departure information for the second stay.

3. Am I correct in assuming we won't be able to take advantage of free dining until she checks in and we check back in under our second reservation?

The dining plan credits are not active until you check-in with the reservation associated with the dining plan.
(Just to make sure, your sister is making the reservation for you with her pin, right? You cannot add dining to your reservation when you check-in, nor can you get the cost of dining refunded when you check-in. The package must be set-up with the free dining offer at the time of booking.)

I do it every year, because I arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving and FD or room discount doesn't start until Sunday.

Yes, you can still take advantage of ME; you are technically a resort guest the first day with a room only.

She can book up to three rooms at the same resort on her dining pin.

Have your room only and package linked, so they might not have to move you the second day.

You can check in as early as 6 am for the next day.

You can make the tickets for the length of your stay and then pick them up a day early at guest relations at any parks or DTD. It will be a paper ticket.

The next day check-in for your package and go to the concierge desk; they can place the paper ticket on your KTTW card.
