Split stay at BLT and Swan/Dolphin? A few questions...

So we're doing an extra trip this summer. Right now it looks like we're going to do Sun-Thurs at BLT. (Although if our friends come along, we might end up back at our home resort of AKV, since we would LOVE for them to experience it.)

Anyway, the plane fare is actually a fair amount cheaper to come a day early - on Saturday. DH has his heart set on staying at the Poly eventually, but he decided that maybe the Dolphin would be a good idea for our one night stay.

So I know all about the location, etc. (We've stayed at BCV.) And I know that we can still do EMH. But there were a few things I couldn't find while looking around the internet.

If we book the Dining Plan, will we have to pay the higher rate since we won't be staying at a DVC resort, or do all DVC members get the lower DDP rate?

Can we still get ME from the airport?

Will the Dolphin still be able to transfer our luggage like other Disney resorts do during split stays?

Hmmm.... that's all the questions I can think of now. Thanks in advance!:goodvibes

Since the Swan/Dolphin are not Disney resorts you will not be able to do the dining plan that night. You will have to start it when you move to BLT or AKV.

Also, you cannot use ME when staying at the Swan/Dolphin - again, not Disney resorts. I think that EMH is about the only perk that is applicable.

Oh - no luggage transfer either but a cab wouldn't cost much to move the luggage yourself.

I had a similar situation come up with my Sun-Fri trip; Saturday airfare was quite a bit cheaper. However, by the time I looked into spending cash for a room, I would have had to cram into a value resort to not use up all the savings on airfare!!

I ended up booking a studio at BLT-- we're moving to a 1BD Sunday-- to avoid paying anyone cash and eating up more points than I wanted to.

Thanks everyone! Very helpful info to know. Even though the Dolphin looks nice, I'm not sure I'm willing to give up ME. We never rent a car on our trips - we always use Disney's transportation.

Just a thought but it would only be one way for you. You could still use ME for the return. I don't know how many are in your group but shuttles are not too expensive for one way unless there are several in your family.

On the resort board folks said they have had recent luck having luggage transfered to/from the Dolphin/Swan to Disney Resorts. Worth asking!
