Split stay and renting DVC?

I want to book up for May next year direct through WDTC. As a surprise I'd like to book into the animal kingdom lodge savannah view rooms for the last 3 days of our stay but it's really expensive to do that part through Disney.

Can I book a 14 night stay through the Disney website to get our normal hotel (POP), flights, tickets and the free dining (its breakfast only) and toy story bands but then call Disney and cancel 3 nights for the DVC nights?

If so will I need to do anything about magic express or will Disney be able to work that out for us?

If you reduce the number of nights, you will be charged a change fee - sorry, I am not familiar enough with WDTC policy to know how much. You wouldn't get breakfast for the full 14 days once you reduce the length of stay, and you will still have 14 day tickets so there would be no advantage to booking the 14 nights in advance, if you already know you only want 11. Just book the 11 and then add the 3 nights on through DVC rental. As long as you aren't booking a flight-inclusive package, that would be preferable - no change fee then. If you want to book flights as part of the package, then as far as I'm aware, there is no way to do it because the flights would be based on length of stay and any reduction to that would mean an amendment to your flights.

Your best bet would be to book a hotel and ticket package for 11 nights, the 3 nights stay through DVC rental and book flights yourself.

That's a good idea. We want the 14 day passes and not fussed on the breakfasts, it's just on offer at the moment.

If you do book the DVC 3 days you will need to request that the magic express drop off is added to your reservation, you can't book it yourself it has to be the DVC member.

Thanks, I was going to book through one of the big rental companies so will remember to make sure that's done when I order.
