I had to do a split stay to get free dining. We booked 8/13 to 8/14 and then 8/14 to 8/21. Since it is cheaper we bought all 9 day tickets on the 8/14 to 8/21 reservation. That means 8/13 to 8/14 is room only.

I was told i could just activate the tickets when i go to the park a day earlier on the 13th. This means that i can't setup my fast passes on 8/13 because technically i don't have a ticket on that day.

SO my question is, once i get activated can i log into the app MDE and set up my fast passes (if available) while i'm at the park that day?

As long as the tickets are linked in your MDE account you should be able to get FP+ for how many days you have tickets available. When you package starts shouldn't matter. You can book FP+ for your whole stay.

I did this in Feb. as we had a split stay and tickets were part of the second package.

What will happen is 60+ you can book 8/13 and 8/14 and you will have to wait until 8/14 to book the rest of the FP+. (You can book out a few extra days after an onsite stay but I think it's only 5 days.)

If you have a package booked for Stay #2, you have to activate your tickets when you arrive for that first park day. As soon as your tickets are activated, book your FPs for the 13th.

We are doing a split stay and last night was my 60 days. I booked fast passes for the whole trip, but my tickets are linked to my first resort.
The linking was done automatically online in my Disney experience--and I highly recommend selecting your fast passes before you get to the park.
Even if you book all of them on the 14th, you will have the best selection then.
Good luck!

This happened to a friend of mine, they bought the tickets as part of a package that was attached to the second part of a split stay, and couldnt make FP+ for the first part until they were on property and activated the tickets.
Lesson here is not to attach tickets in the first place if you dont need to, and get them separately. The window will open at sixty from your first stay. In your case, you will have to wait until you get there and make FP+ after they are activated for the first part of your stay.
